14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Thank you for the flower Jacques that is so thoughtful.

I don't drink enough water so maybe I will have to make more of an effort. Especially if it will help with the muscles. I think that's why they hurt all the time because I'm always tense.

Do you drink much water J or do you just have coffee?

I know I'm not doing the right thing but my body craves sugar to get through the day. I usually have 2 v, and coke. No water. It sounds bad just writing it down. I've tried to cut down but I become even more exhausted.

How did you stop the super?

I'm just going to put my flowers in water, thanks I feel so spoilt.

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi My angel,

Well the rangehood is up and working, i am exhausted as usual, just about to have a lay down.

Yes my muscles always hurt and i thought mine was fron always being tense, i sometimes catch myself tensing my whole body, but most of the time it is subconsious.

Yes Karen i drink 3 liters of water a day as well as 8-10 cups of coffee, that is all i drink.

I stoped sugar cold turkey, it was about 5 years ago, i had sugar in everything, coffee, 2 liters of coke a day, sugar on cerial, cakes every thing you name it i had sugar on it, so one day i decided i had to stop, so i stoped putting sugar in everything, i had headaches for about a week, then it stoped, now i can't stand sugar in anything, and anything with sugar tasts super sweet now, it is fantastic, so no sugar for me.

It is not good KAren to be drinking V and coke, they both contain way more caffeen than coffee, you would be better off haveing a couple of cups of coffee if you need a pick-me-up, they could be the reason you are so anxious, huge amounts of sugar and huge amounts of caffeen is not a good recipe.

I would encourage you Karen to try and stop the coke and V's, try having a cup of coffee in the morning and one mid morning, this should give you enough energy for the day without making you hyper of a night when you need to sleep.

I hope you feel better this afternoon my angel, your writting sounds more positive, i am proud of you listening to your body, i need to do the same

Re: 14th year house bound

Wow Jacques

That's super impressive. I wish I had another pair of hand to help me out at the house. Your mum must be so happy with the renovations you are doing.

I'm so glad you are having a rest now.

I wish I could sleep for a week I'm so exhausted mentally and physically.

Wow 3 litres of water I'd be lucky if I had 600mls a day. I used to drink over a litre of coke a day but have cut it back to 600mls.

You must have lots of will power to give up sugar. I sure would. It would be a good example to the girls. It's all I know when I'm so exhausted and have to keep going I use sugar. It's been that way for so long. Especially having children I don't get a break.

Rest up my friend you deserve it.

Re: 14th year house bound

My angel i wish i could offer you my hands to help out with the house, nothing would bring me more joy.

Mum is so extatic with the house, she is even buying up plants like you would not believe, she is so happy, it is so nice to see a smile on her face again, after all these years, she is so proud of everything, anyone that comes to the house she takes them on a tour of all the renos.

Karen you must be so exhaused, i am exhausted just reading what you get up to of a day, you push too hard sometimes, it is good your body is forcing you to rest today.

Karen it had nothing to do with willpower, it was a decision i made, the hardest part was putting up with the side effects of the addiction, once about 1-2 weeks have passed you will no longer like sugar. as i said Karen if you stopped the coke and V's and just had a couple of coffees of a morning you would still get the energy from them but not the huge amount of sugar, coke and V's would have about 20 teaspoons of sugar each, X4 you are having close to 80 tea spoons of sugar a day, 2 cups of coffee with 2 teasppons of sugar each you will have 4, their is a big difference, and you still get the kick from the caffeen.

I know how tough things must be for you, i don't have children, but listening to what you write your 2 little ones are bundles of energy, even though the children are full of energy, go at your own pace, your body is screaming out for a rest.

Karen, my angel, my secret of drinking so much water, i fill 10 600mls coke bottles with water, put them in the fridge, i have 1 for each meal, and one every second coffee, their is 3 liters, and i double my liquid intake, so i am fully hydrated. it is hard, it made me sick for the first few weeks, i was not used to drinking so much water, because it had no sugar in it, but after that it becomes routine.

I hope the little ones are not too energentic this afternoon, do the girls have a trampoline? they are great for kids to burn off some energy, and they are in the back years so they are safe, and you can sit out the back and watch.

sorry Karen, i am just trying to think of ways for the children to have some fun and burn some energy, if you every find i am getting too personal, please let me know, i am just trying to help.

Take care my friend.

Re: 14th year house bound

Im so glad that your mum is happy that must bring you some joy knowing that you are making her life a little easier.

I've spent the day in bed I'm so exhausted.

Mum and dad's house has no yard not even grass, so the only way the girls get to play outside is if I take them to the park. It's hard on them coming from a big property where they could run around anywhere.

I know the sugar drinks are out of control, it's something that started a long time ago. The other thing is the cost, I'm wasting so much money.

Jacques you are not too personal i'm open to any suggestions you have.

I bought my youngest a children's punching bag hoping she would use that instead of me. It didn't last very long until she broke it. She is so strong with a lot of built up anger.

The pediatrician said I need to wear her out. It's just so difficult she never stops. I'm so exhausted trying to keep her occupied.

It will be easier at the new house, it on a fenced care and I promised to buy them a trampoline, and a swing set.

I appreciate your help so much Jacques, thank you:-)

Re: 14th year house bound

Jacque my son and I do that with water bottles .. just fill up about 8 of them and recycle them ... we might not have as many as you .. but it is a big part of our health .. we never add sugar etc .. though today we did have an icecream with salted caramel and mint etc yum .. little naughty treats are allowed sometimes if daily the intake is nutritious.

I also have a lot of problem with holding myself rigid and tense. i catch myself doing it all the time .. when driving ... my arms are locked on door or break ... in bed I find myself holding some part of me rigid ... I guess its away of channeling the stress ... its been like that for 10 years ... now I just wearily try to relax when I realise and gently shake out my arm or leg and relax again. My doctor was shocked when I said that I did it.

Its hard to give up stuff if we are in a habit ... but Karen probably knows the when the blood supgar spikes and plunges her feelings and mood will be all over the place.

I think having a day in bed now and then could be needed but still get up every now and then and head out to the house and do the hard yards ... just as much as you can do. Dont overdo it.

Re: 14th year house bound

Karen do the girls own a nintendo Wii?

I think i may have found a way to keep them going for hours to wear themsleves out, Nintendo Wii is a computer game consol you can buy a game called Zumba Kids or wii fitness plus it is sort of a high energy fitness trainning, the girls will love it if they like dancing, and singing. you can look it up online here:

http://www.zumbafitnessgame.com/zumba_kids.php

http://wiifit.com/

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wii-Fit-Plus-With-Balance-Board-Bundle-Also-works-on-WiiU-Brand-New-Australian-/331590573143

Check it out with the girls, it is something they can do for hours indoors, and they can play it together.

Karen, try to slowely cut down on the V's and coke, change coke for coke zero, or something, and make the change, you will feel so much better for it. i would like to see you happy and healthy, it will help with your MH as well.

Anyway see if the girls like it, it should not be too expensive to buy the game is $30, or their abouts, and the console is $139.00.

Maybe worth a try

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi @Appleblossom,

i have missed you, it is nice to speak to you again.

It is good i am not the only ones with the water bottles, yes a treat is essential to our mental health, or so i tell myself

I have had this problem of being tense for so long, i find myself all the time being tense, but i can't seem to relax, if you find something that works, please let me know.

Yes habits are hard to break, i have managed to stop smoking, stop sugar, but i can't let go of caffeen, although i stil lfind myself craving cigarretts when i get anxious.

I agree @Appleblossom listen to your body, do something each day to keep moving, rest when your body needs it and allow time for the mind to relax too, i try to listen to calming music for at leaset 1 hour a day, something to stop my mind racing over and over the same trauma's of the past.

@Appleblossom, you and your son are so much better than me with diet, i wish i could stop craving food all the time, but it is my way of coping, i suppose @hiddenite, it is her way of coping too, with the coke, it is sort of like something comforting.

Take care @Appleblossom, i have enjoyed reading your other posts on the forum, please don't forget about me

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

I wont forget about you Jacques. We have too much water under the bridge. Even if this is anonymous forum. You are locked into my heart and memory now.

You are right about habit forming stuff ...hope Karen didnt think I was preaching ... it is hard ... I used to be a walking cocktail ... so I do speak from experience ... I still cant give up coffee ... for a few months here and there I give it up but ... often manage to find an excuse to make a coffee over a good nourishing herbal tea ... but at least herbals are a regular part of my lifestyle now.

I dont listen to music to relax enough ... I used to decades ago ... at the moment it is work, or an active pursuit or something my son and I share from utube when he finds a great piece, performer or composer.

A month ago I bought some Tannoy studio monitors so that my son could listen to music on a proper sound system ...kids are so used to puny computer speakers they havnt a clue ... I remember them being the bees knees when we all spaced out to trippy music in the 70s ... I can finally afford my own ... but the deal is my son has to get practical enough to wire them up ... another job to do ... he will get around to it ... eventually

Massage can be good for relaxing but I cant afford it and had issues with intimacy after massage ...

Re: 14th year house bound

Thank you My Friend, i sometimes miss you

No i don't think you where preaching, i never meant too either, i was just explaining how much better i feel going off sugar.

Oh no, how do you give coffee up for a month?!!!!!!!, i can only give it up from 12am to 6am , if i didn't sleep i would drink it 24/7, but i have been good, i am down from 15 cup per day to 8-10, so i am slowly cutting down my intake, but i think i am at my limit. i can't stand the tast of tea or herbal tea, so all i have is coffee.

OMG those speakers look awsome, i have a set of Mordaunt-short speakers, the sound is amazing, i also have a full Nakamichi sound system, with turntable, my father was an audio nut. All the best equipment, i have to say you are right, computer speakers and CD's have destroyed music, their is nothing like a good vynal, The kids of today have no idea what good music is!!!!!!

Yes the speakers in the 70's where expensive, dad's system is still worth thousands and it is 30 years old!!!!

Sorry for getting on my high horse, i can't stand crappy music or crappy sound systems!!

Take care

Jacque
