14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hi Karen.

Just make sure you look up "Faster EFT" as opposed to EFT,there a distinct differences. You can treat each individual symptom you mentioned with it. I found that by eliminating as many problems/symptoms,etc as possible its very healthy for our bodies and it does a great job of getting rid of the stressors we go through and so much more.Thats good for out mental health.Being comfortable is one of the best things you can achieve.

I'm bored more than anything.I sleep very well and look after myself but I have a hard time finding things to do so I read a lot.Self help books are good.I'm always buying those and reading car books, you know, typical guy stuff as well.

Chris.

Hey Jacques

No I wishing right now I could be sitting in my car. Mum has just told me off for being in my bedroom. She just doesn't understand. I wish today was over with.

It's my birthday in a couple of days. The girls are so excited I wish they would just forget about it. It makes me feel awful but they just don't understand what it's like. I would rather spend the day in the car away from everyone.

I hope you have a nice sunny day where you are

Re: 14th year house bound

Oh no, you poor thing, that is terrible, my family do not understand either, they think i am a snob or am rude, some of my family refuse to speak to me now because i can't speak to them or be around them.

i have missed so many weddings, funerals and birthdays, because of my anxiety and depression, i do understand, and i do understand how you must be feeling having your mother get upset with you, my mother says she will never understand what i am going through because she has never experianced it, please remember your mother does not understand and never will.

Maybe you could keep yourself busy in the kitchen or something, somewhere where their is not so many people. Karen you have a right to be comfortable, if you feel like going to your car do so. make an excuse like you need to go to the shops for something, to make it less obvious.

Karen i know it is your birthday on the 17th, i was hoping to suprise you, you told me last year after it was your birthday, so i wrote it down so i would not forget this year. I know you don't like birthdays, but i am going to send you best wishes anyway. Karen i have not celebrated my birthday in 10 years, every year, i lock mysef in my bedroom, switch off the phone, and sleep the whole day, i refuse to speak to anyone, birthdays for me are just a reminder of how much of my life i have wasted and that it has been another year of suffering.

Karen, i do understand, it must be hard for the girls too, i am sure they just want you to be happy, you are their mum, i will help you through it.

Take care my angel, half the day is gone already, i will be counting down the hours for you.

Oh Jacques you have surprised me. I'm speechless and humbled. I cannot believed you wrote down the date of my birthday. I feel like you I have wasted my life J and you are still so young. I hold hope for you.

People think I'm a snob and rude because i an unable to speak to them.

On Friday I was at the house working in the garden when a strange man came up behind me and said hello. I was so startled he was a neighbor just introducing himself and wanted to shake hands.

I was stuttering made a huge fool of myself. I don't think he will come near me again.

That was the reason I was in such I dark place on Friday. I couldn't even tell you why.

Thanks J you really are the kindest, caring and thoughtful person ever.

Karen you are so special to me, i was hoping to suprise you and tell you how much you mean to me, that you have someone who cares.

Karen, i think when i get to your age i will still be house bound, i struggle so much with day-to-day anxiety, i often think i was born like this, and that i will be like this forever, i have been so scared right from my first memories as a child.

Karen when you where a child, where you scared, or was it only when you got older? sorry to be asking this question, but i am just wondering if i am the only one who has always been scared.

KAren, i do the same thing, i stutter, i sound like an idiot, and when people try to shake my hand i pull away, it makes people so uncomfortable, that is one reason i avoid people at all costs. I know i agree people are just trying to be nice, but you and i have been so traumatised by people, that we fear everyone, even the nice ones.

Karen, i hope we are close enough friends that you will in the future speak to me about these things, you are not alone, i experiance the same things. Karen you did extremely well not to run away.

Karen it is nice to know you have friendly neighbours, at least when you move in one day you will feel safe knowing their are some friendly faces around.

Karen you are special to me, you birthday is just one way i can show my gratitude for the help you have givin me over the past year, Thank you my friend, you have helped me more than you will ever know.

Re: 14th year house bound

Jacques it like you and I have traveled the same path. I was always scared. Especially when I wasn't with my mum. I remember being at kinder so distressed screaming and crying. They rang my mum to pick me up.

Primary school was the same I was scared of all the children, teachers even going to the toilet I would hang on till I got home. I worried about every thing being late, having to answer a question, you name it.

High school I got progressively worse, there wasn't a day that I wasn't anxious, scared, or worried. If I was asked to read in class I would turn brighter red and start stuttering. I was teased most days. So cruel.

I remember lying awake at night worried that someone would break into the house. Or that the house would burn down.

Worried about how I would get through the next day.

So J you are not alone, my childhood was awful, stress, anxiety, worry.

It's so difficult watching my 9 year old struggling with exactly the same things as me.

I always went to kinder with her and volunteered three days out of four. I go on all excursions with them. Even at school now I help out when I can go on all excursions, even swimming lessons and sports days.

I hate that she also suffers like us, it makes me feel so hopeless.

I hope you get to rest in the afternoon

Hi Chris

I read about fasterEFT, it sounds interesting. I actually spoke with someone at lifeline who had cptsd stemming from being in the army, they went into great detail how fasterEFT worked and the difference it's made to them.

I read car books too, and used to restore cars as a hobby. So maybe not quite typical guy stuff.

Yes, @Denv12 I am addicted to books, but also really into sewing things and hoping to have my own business online within 18 months.

Now I've got to look up eft .....
Thanks for your lovely message

Hi Anne

I hope you and your husband benefit from a week off. Absence markes the heart grow fonder, so I've heard. I hope this is the case for you.

Take care
