14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hi Jacques
I'm so sorry that you are having a bad day.

I hope the awful weather in NSW isn't causing you any problems.

I'm having an extremely low day and a bad case of the "what it's" my negativity is so destructive.

Take carekaren

Hi My Angel,

hmmm, i think i am having the same day as you, i am feeling sorry for myself, negative self talk, etc.

No i don't think it is the weather because i like the rain and stormes. I think it has been building for a while, a real lack of motivation coupled with some serious weight gain, i am huge, before christmas i was almost down to 100g, now that is all out the window, 7 years of excercise wasted, i am feeling so low.

i am sorry i can't be more help to you my angel, i am here if you want to talk, but i think you need some rest, try to get it when you can, i hope tonight your daughter has a good night and you do too.

Believe it of not I work with someone not unlike yourself. Will not leave the house without a support worker to hold her hand, unless just to the shops nearby. I totally get where you're coing from when you say your stigmatised. Avoid being judged, and don't get hurt. But I ask you, what would it be like if overnight this problem was reduced??? Instead of being 10 ot of 10 stigmatised in town, what if the stigma was only a 3 out of 10 problem. What would you do ?? Where would you go ?? How would like be different for you ??

I understand how you feel, but I've seen people change. Actually the woman I mentioned took a bus to a meditation class (first time she'd left the area alone in 6 months), She made the decision, no-one told her what to do. Just focus on a solution that would work for you, and take a small step. You can do it.

@kristin @Appleblossom Excellent idea to call lifeline. Even if you're not thinking of taking your life right now, lifelne can help with other issues, offer advice and great idea to suggest making the call.

Definitely the same day as me....

I lost 30 but since going on this medication it's all gone back on. I loathe myself looking like this. It's worse than the depression because I feel like such a failure.

It doesn't matter how far I walk what I eat it just keeps going on.

It makes me want to stop all the medication. I would rather be 30 lighter with ptsd, anxiety, depression. Than like this. And the medication not helping all the symptoms.

Sorry j I'll stop winging now.

To top things off I have to see my treating team tomorrow.

Wow talk about overwhelmed.

Might need the spare sleeping bag and hot water bottle j..... I need a friend.

Hi both,

Sorry to hear you're both having a bad day.

We had horrible storms here in Sydney too @Jacques - what I love about rain is that it brings out the coolest animals - frogs etc. Don't like the huntsman spiders that come hide in my house though 🙂

What are you both doing to take care of yourselves tonight?

It sounds like you both wanted to have some sleep. I hope that was helpful. Don't beat yourself up about sleeping for so long today Jacques. I know you said you stopped exercising - but even doing the gardening and moving things around, is exercise. I don't the 7 years is wasted at all!

Hope to 'see' you both online tomorrow

Hi @Claired,

Thank you for thinking of me, i am so glad this lady is able to move past her problems and enjoy life again, it is no way to live, their is such a misunderstanding with people having anxiety, people in my town are frightened of me because they mistake my anxiety for agression, i don't like where i live, i never have, i was born here but grew up in brisbane. I have never been able to adapt to small town life, i don't like it, everyone has to know your business, and if they don't, they make it up.

I would not matter to me if it was 1 person in the town or the whole town, i just want to be away from anyone who knows me, really i don't know what i want, i just don't want to be here anymore, it is unbearable suffering, anxious all the time, depressed all the time, all the days run into one another, no interest in any thing or any one.

it is really nice of you to speak to me, i hope you can manage to help people before it becomes crippling, this is no way to live.

Come and sit with me my angel, here is a sleeping bag and water bottle

i am sorry about bringing up the weight thing, it is just getting to me lately, i am sorry you have the same problem, i understand, and it is harder for women than men, but it definatly hits the self esteem.

Well my angel, i will be here tomorrow, even if it is a shoulder for you to cry on. or someone to sit with, i know how tought it is for you at the moment, you are under a lot of stress, i don't think i could handle what you are going through as good as you, talk about a super mum, i get exhausted just reading how busy you are, you poor thing, i hope you get a breather sometime soon.

Take care my angel, you are in my thoughts

Hi @NikNik,

Oh yes, we have lots of huntsman spiders too, i just shu them with a broome, i suppose they need some shelter too

well i am feeling sorry for myself tonight, i can't mention what i am going to do to calm myself, i would violate the rules. I will do what i have always done to cope.

i am sleeping all the time though @NikNik, i just don't want to be awake anymore, it feels like an irritation to have to get up these days. i am so down tonight, well i have been for a while, but more so tonight, i think it is the low point in the rollercoaster (well it feels like a neverending elevator down, with some stops on the way).

I will be on here tomorrow, like i am every day, annoying everyone
