14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hi Karen,

As I was reading your last post i was happy to read that you said that the health professionals have done you untold damage... because... it means that you do know that they are WRONG! And if you know that they are wrong you don't have to act by what they say or believe them.. because you already know they are wrong... they couldnt damage you if they were saying the right things! they are misguided judgements given by people who were not in your shoes, in your experiences, and can not possibly understand the choices that you had to make to survive. So hold tight to the knowledge that they are wrong and trust that you do know these things, and like Jacques has said, continue to look for and look at the resilience in your girls in the way that they are shining at school and in their creative persuits with you at home. They are growing up with love being given to them by you and your parents and their school in a safe place because you made that happen. There are still things that can get better (i.e. they shouldnt be hearing their mother put down by her parents!!) but things are so much better in their lives now because things have changed.. and will keep changing as you continue to grow and heal,

Yes My angel you said it "the system fails people" not you, you have done the best you could with what you had, please remember it is others telling you these things, i am sure deep down you know you did the best you could, and now the girls are safe, and so are you, whenever someone labels you, look at those girls and tell yourself, they are smart, wonderful, talented girls.

i know how others "labels" can influence us, i see myself as a fat lazy loser, who is too lazy to get a job, bludging off my mother, others have labled me as this and over the course of 10 years i now i believe it.

so Karen i understand how much others can hurt us, it is our challenge to see ourselves differently, see ourselves as worthwhile, see ourselves as successful when cucumstanses have been challenging.

i hope this talk we are having is not too upsetting, i just don't see in you what others have labeled you as. i am sure others on this forum feel the same.

Re: 14th year house bound

We sit around the table and do homework.
But every night they hop into bed with me for cuddles and read to one another. Tonight we were singing funny songs and coloring together.

Karen you are a fantastic mum, those 2 girls are lucky to have you, as i said i live in a place where some kids have no home, they just wander the streets.

My kids jump into my bed every morning 🙂 my lil boy still wakes up every night with bad dreams and comes and gets in with me at some point every night too. I love our snuggle time in the morning, even when half the time i'd so love to actually be asleep lol!

Re: 14th year house bound

Good Morning Karen,

I had a terrible night last night, could not sleep at all, i tossed and turned the whole night, i am so exhausted this morning, no walk today

i hope you are feeling better today, and you reflect on what a good job you have done with the girls, this should give you some pride and sense of worth, they are a reflection of you, what you have taught them and the skills you have given them in their short lifetimes.

I am sure they are going to grow up into confident, intelligent women.

i hope you have found a nice spot to spend the day. i am looking out over my desk into the garden, the birds, oh the damn birds are digging up my ground cover, aaaaaaah not again, oh well i am sure it will make some good nests for them.

Take care, my angel
