14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hey J
any chance of sitting outside with you for awhile. I just need somewhere to feel safe and not judged.

Re: 14th year house bound

I've been getting a lot of emails daily from this discussion thread so just want to 'unsubscribe'. Seems the only way to do this is to leave another message and uncheck the 'email box in the process. So that's what I'm doing, but I didn't want to leave a weird empty message. I have followed a lot of what's happened with you, Jacques and Hiddenite, but it seems very personal between you two so I'll leave you to it now. Really wishing you well.

@Mazaritai am so sorry you feel this is a private conversation, this goes for every body on the forum, this is not a closed discussion, yes me and Karen are close, but that is because we knew each other before joining this forum.

i woul like nothing more than for other people to join in, i am trying to be as active as i can be on other threads, but i find it hard to do so, i am always worried i am going to say the wrong thing to someone, and with my social phobia i struggle to talk to new people on the forum.

i am trying with friday feast, funday sunday, askanything monday and topic tuesday. but i still have found it difficult to interact.

@Mazaritai like talking to you, i hope we speak again on other parts of the forum or here, i don't mind.

i appologize to everyone if it seems i am not socialising as much with you, it is me finding it difficult, that is all.

Thank you all for all the support you have and are giving me since i have joined i am so appreciative of you all

thankyou all

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Hey @Jacques,

Apologies if my unsubscribing message has given a wrong idea. Please don't stress, there's really no need at all. It's just that I get a very large number of emails every day from different discussion threads I've participated in and it's all a bit much sometimes. It's my issue, not yours. I just didn't want to leave a blank message in the process of unsubscribing because that might have seemed even weirder than what I said.

I value everyone at the forums and look forward to chatting with you and others again - I'm not going anywhere, just trying to find a way to cut down on the emails I get. By the way, I hope you don't ever feel like you are not doing enough on the forums. The way I see it is the forums are not a duty but a place where each of us can engage or not as we find genuinely helpful.

See you soon I hope! 🙂

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi everyone, I've not posted a great deal on the site (this is in fact my third 'proper' post...besides a blank one where I hit the wrong button & another to explain my boo-boo 😉), but what I wanted to say was that I'm so pleased to see how supportive everyone is of each other, in addition to the honesty with which stories are told. Even through the times of turmoil written here I can clearly get a sense of genuine care and support. Thank you for sharing your lives so openly, & showing that heartfelt care for fellow people is truly out there 🙂

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi @PixiGT,

i am glad you can join in, yes i have found everyone on here to be very supportive, genuine and caring.

i can't see the point in lying or excluding some of every persons story, for me i have found being honest gives everyone the whole story and allows them to see me in my vulnerable state, only then do you see how caring/not caring someone is. i find being genuine also helps break the ice, others have simmilar experiances to you and it allows everyone to be able to be open and honest too.

i hope to see you around the forums, it is a great service provided by sane, and i suppose we all should make the most of it.

Take Care

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi @Mazarita,

i understood what you where saying, i was just concerned others have the same idea this is a private conversation, i am open to talking to everybody, it is difficult, but you are all so special in your own ways. it feels for me like a little community or extended family gathering.

I was worried others may not post on here for the same reasons you outlined, so i thought i would just write a message welcomming anybody to join in.

Take Care

Jacques
