14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hi lj sorry you are struggling.

I hope your psychologist appointment goes well.

It's so hard on the children I understand. My youngest is so angry she lashes out at me an punches me.

My eldest is very fussy with what she eats its one thing she can control.she also cries a lot.

I've got help for them at the Australian Childhood Foundation. They are very good.

Thinking of you lj Take care

Karen

Oh @Former-Member, that is too bad, it is so difficult moving all the time, i had to move so much when i was a child, i am glad you are seeing your psych, maybe bring the problem with the children up with her, she may be able to give you techniques to get them settled.

I know how hard you try @Former-Member, you are doing a good job, under the curcumstances, it must be so confusing for the children, i hope time will help too, maybe if they could make friends with other children in the place you live may help ease their transition. i suppose not having their pets is a difficult thing too, i know thier are many realistic toy animals, maybe you could get them one to imitate a pet, just a thought.

@Former-Member, i am here if you ever need to talk, you are an awesome mum, so dedicated to the children, things will get better @Former-Member, you just need time to get back on your feet. sending you a virtual hug.

Take care.

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Thank you both so much. Karen there isn't much help here for kids, child and youth mental health tell me they are too young for counselling... Which I know is rubbish but... I used to take them to a private child psychologist but she's an hour away and I can't afford the fuel let alone the appointments - $120 each after Medicare gap is taken out.
I do talk to my psych about them and she does help a lot.
Thanks again and hugs back
Lj

Hi Karen,

Feeling really exhausted and low, but i am managing, my moods seem to be all over the place, it seems to be getting worse as the months go on.

OMG Karen, please give yourself a pat on the back, you must be proud of yourself, that is a big job to do, no wonder you are tired, make sure you have an early night.

Karen, my angel you are too sweet, thank you for thinking about me, i was more worried about you, being up that ladder, i was just praying you where going to be ok. Looks like my prayres have been answered, you are doing really well Karen, it takes a lot of energy to do what you are doing, it must be so nice to have something to strive for, something to look forward to in the future, i love your place and i have only seen a small bit of it.

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi Jacques sorry your mood is low. Is there any chance that you will promise me to talk to your Dr about the mood swings, and how things are deteriorating for you.

I worry about you and not getting the help you deserve.

I will try Karen, I have to see a doctor in 1 month, I will try to bring it up.

Karen I think I am coping at the moment, just feeling like I have wasted my life, that is all.

I worry about you too Karen, any news from your treating team?

Re: 14th year house bound

Please try Jacques there are other medications that may make your life easier, without the dark stuff.

I have to see my treating team on Wednesday I'm so worried about it. My mum says I'm the worst she's seen me. That's saying something.

But I have promised myself that I will never go back. I'm so scared how I'll react.

Re: 14th year house bound

Karen my thoughts will be with you, I will support you through Wednesday and I will be here for you.

I so wish they can find a solution that will help, it makes me so sad to know you are still distressed, you deserve only happyness, anyway Karen try not to focus too much on what might happen, you will only cause yourself unnecessary distress, I am here for you my angel, unconditionally
