14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Thanks Jacques
sending big hugs to you.
you are spot on. Not having anywhere I feel safe. A place to belong were I am understood not just told to get over it. Or being told that they are ashamed of me and I failed. Being blamed for his death.
so I pick the car. I just don't belong anywhere.
You know what thats like.
Stay warm J

Hi @hiddenite (My Angel)

Big Bear hug for you too, you are so little i can pick you up

I hope i am not overstepping my boundries, i have found soem infor mation for women's housing im not sure if it will help, but it is worth a try:

http://www.melbourne.homeless.org.au/womens.html

Maybe worth giving this group a call, they specialise in PTSD and may be able to get someone to help you.

Australian Centre for Post-traumatic Mental Health Tel. (03) 9035 5599

The situation you are in is no good for your mental health, you are still living in an abusive environment, how can you possibly get better if you are living like you do, you need somewhere supportive and kind, not being blamed for the past, but supported for the future. i have faith in you, you are stronger than you know, you have made it through so much, your courage is unsurpast by anyone i know.

Take care Karen. tomorrow is another day, we fight on........

Hi @hiddenite,

I am so sorry, i posted last night, but something must have gone wrong.

i hope you where able to get some sleep last night, today is another day.

Karen you really need to reach out and find a place, appartment anything, somewhere you can call home, their are several organisations in Victoria that specalise in women from abusive backgrounds, you need to find a place where you are supported not blamed.

Karen i so wish i could be their to help you, support you, maybe you need to look into psycologists who specialise in PTSD, i will look around online today see if i can find some of these things for you, you are special and deserve support, even from a stranger like me.

Stay Warm Karen, i hope today is better too you.

stay strong

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi @Jacques

thanks for your kindness. Back in the car today I think its colder than yesterday.

you know me I avoid sleeping the nightmares and anxiety too bad. Now I've got a problem that my legs arms , hand , fingers all muscles twitch or spasms whenever they want to. Its worse than the shaking.

I know you are right I just don't know what to do. I have this need to isolate myself from everything.

I hope you are managing ok.

Hi @hiddenite (My Angel)

No problem you are so worth it, it is a bit warmer where i am today, thank god, i am sorry you have to be out in the cold like that, i am thinking of you.

i know you avoid sleeping, just hoping you cen get some rest. i know how bad it is, i wake up several times a night with panic attacks, but i need to sleep, get my best sleeps of an afternoon.

yes i have the same problem with involintary movements, my arms, legs and head all move on their own, i think it is the medication, i have also lost control of my bodily functions, and severe back pain, i know it is the medication so i fight through it.

i know i do the same thing, i isolate myself from everything, but i have a home to do that, maybe you could contact Melbourne Homeless Services, their web site is http://www.melbourne.homeless.org.au/womens.html

it is not just for homeless, but for women in abusive places, you are still being abused, you need to get out of the negativity. please at least look at the website, for me.

it is woth a try, maybe if you had somewhere to call home, you could get some help for your mental health, in a safe environment.

Stay safe & warm, BIG HUGS to you, i am thinking of you always.

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi @hiddenite

I hope you are not too cold. I think of you in the car. It makes a lot of sense to find time by yourself when you have been overwhelmed by so many things for such a long time. I know you are scared by the severity of your trauma, but I hope you can make some decisions to gain some sense of control of your life.

You are so intuitive and beautiful when you make suggestions for other people. That is the value of peer support. There are things we can offer one another .. wounded healers maybe .. but all reaching out struggling to exist in this imperfect world and make the most of things.

Can you start to journal about your real life situation when you are in the car? Back to basics. What is needed for life. Make a separate section for emotional things and for practical realities. Start sifting through your realities. You do have many resources of all kinds. List your positive qualities, inspite of your trauma. Like one of @PeppiPatty 's wonderful lists.

We might only be able to do one thing at a time. Thats ok.

You dont have to reply to me but I want to you to know that I am concerned about you, and many others who have read your posts.

Re: 14th year house bound

I had panic attacks for years, then one day I left my husband and they all went away. Funny that.
