14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hi @Jacques

Thanks for thinking of me.

Not away, I have been flat out. My son had a piano concert on Friday and was in reading of Hamlet today. Both were across town, so as I am driver general dogsbody, I just had to go to bed. it is sometimes as exhaisting watching and hoping and supporting thanin doing the performance itself. I will just do dinner, then come back.

Cheers

Hey Jacques

I told you I am standing next to you holding your hand.
Never forget that you are not alone. When you wake in the morning I will still be there holding your hand.

you cant get rid of me that easily.
oh and by the way stop stepping on me with those size 14 shoes.

Never forget J that you are not alone and there are others suffering like you and understand not being able to leave the house , shaking , panic attacks ....
we fight every day even when we don't want to.

Be kind to yourself J you deserve only the best.

Re: 14th year house bound

Well I am glad the moderators didnt block you, @Jacques it is important that we can express ourselves truthfully. There are great things about multiculturalism like food, music and festivals, but I agree with you that there are difficulties and we are foolish to pretend otherwise.

Yet @Former-Member and @Mazarita point out advantages and positive experiences. My daughter had many Asian friends and I have enjoyed the company and insights lots of Indian piano students and parents. But it seems to take generations to smooth things out.

I try to talk about it as I have felt excluded so much from Australian culture though dad was Australian. At least I am talking about my experience of it now, rather than restricting myself and trying to fit in, feeling awkward when I cannot relate to some sentimental story that does not gell with my experience. We can bend and stretch only so far.

Today at the service station, the middle eastern cashier made me laugh. It was just spontaneous. Australians used to say I didnt have a sense of humour, but now I no that I do. I prefer it if we can work things cross culturally, just like when dad introduced me to Aboriginal mates he used to know from the orphanages.

I am glad that you have found an old friend. in Karen.

Hi My Angel ( @hiddenite )

lol looks like we are back into the swing of things, i hope you managed to get some sleep last night, i know their are others with my condition too, that can relate to what i am saying, but like you too, it is still difficult to handle it from day-to-day.

I hope you are comfortable, it is freezing here in NSW i know you are in VIC, how is it down their, if it is cold here i could only imagine how it is where you are, even the animals here are quiet, so abnormal, the frogs are the smart ones, they have gone on vacation, all the pot plants are void of life, they should be back in september, they always come back. i have eve nmore pot plants now for them to live in, maybe i feel guilty for not having their pond in yet, lol

Take care my Angel, only positive thoughts today!!!!

Hi @Appleblossom,

yes me too, i try not to get too contreversial, i know their are great aspects of multiculturalism, i was not saying their are some success stories, i was just saying as a whole humans can't seem to get along and leave each other alone. i don't know maybe i am not with reality, i have not forst hand knowledge, as i don't leave the house.

i can't seem to fit into Australian culture either, even though i was born here, not drinking alcahole is a big part as to why i am excluded, but i just can't seem to get into the layed back attitude, i don't know what it is, i just feel like i don't belong anywhere.

i am sorry if i have upset anyone, maybe i have lost all sense of reality, just on't listen to me, maybe i am talking giberish.

yes Karen ( @hiddenite ) is a very special person to me.

Take Care

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi @Jacques

In May is spent a month in a private mental health unit.
it was like a luxury hotel. I was withdrawing from all my Medication to start on 8 different ones. It was like having gastro and the flu all at the same time I was so unwell.

My psychiatrist and the private hospital rang my health insurance company to get approval for the admission.
Anyway a couple of weeks ago I was sent a letter from the insurance company saying that I owed them 25 thousand dollars because it was a pre existing condition.
I am devastated thats how I ended back in the public Mhu the shock and anxiety was too much. Safety an issue .
I cant even make a phone call to the insurance company. I don't know what to do. .....

I can't fight it because they are right ptsd , anxiety depression, safety. Issues are all pre existing. I feel so helpless. What a monumental stuff up I am .
sorry just needed to vent.
karen
and yes im still holding your hand and I never let go not even once.

Hi @Jacques

I will give it a go 24 hours without a negative thought. Wow its going to be tough. Will you agree to do it too. Remember Im with you so I'll know if you're not trying.

The weather is freezing there is snow on the mountains. Bit cold for sitting in the car. But its all I know .
I think you are going to have to remind me about the negative stuff its all I know.

take care m y friend

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi @hiddenite

I am so sorry you had to be treated like that, i k ow insurance companies are all about making money. Dont care about the people.

I am glad you managed some time in a decent place, oh the joys of not being wealthy hey.

Please you vent as much as needed, i am your friend, what are friends for hey!!!

Maybe you could email the insurance company, most do all their things online. Check out your companies web site. Or maybe your councillor can help?

Well it is freezing here spending the day in the shed organising some things. The animals dont look too impressed with the weather. Well on a positivenote, today is Sunday Funday on the forum, please be their. It is quite entertaining.

You are not a stuff up, you are a fighter in a cruel world. You are the mosy strongest, courageous woman i know. Please dont ever put youself down, you have tried so hard to get help, way more than me. We will fight together, hey stop squeezing so tight 🙂

I hope you are warm, stay safe, thinking of you.

Jacques
