My Hospital Stay

My Hospital Stay

So I arrived here at midday today.
Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange.
Not sure what to do now.
Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel.
Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.

Re: My Hospital Stay

Thank you @Sahara. Yes I'm glad I know those 3 negative states. Later in the week we will learn techniques to change that thinking. I'm learning a lot in some of the groups. All painful. Some hope. Think if I continue learning about myself - then that will help me change & keep the vortex of depression further away.
@soul. Lol. I got moved to a new unit/ward yesterday afternoon. Lol. But I didn't mind. In the morning I'd read a 'Just For Today' quote from my little AA handout. And yesterday's was 'Just For Today I will adjust to what is, and try not to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my 'luck' as it comes and fit myself to it.
So I followed that yesterday. And all is okay. I'm no longer on the geriatrics ward. Now on general ward. There are more patients to talk with here. So it's worked out for the best.
I no longer have a tree with doves roosting in it every night. Now the view out of my window is of concrete - staff car park. Commission flats in the background. But I can see in the distance - far distance - the tops of some trees. Lol.

@Former-Member. Thank you. I'll definitely write on this thread the tools the teacher recommends to change those thought patterns. That class won't be til Friday though. But have other groups this week that will also be beneficial.
The nurse asked me this morning what I had planned for today. I said the morning group walk and 3 groups - so I better hurry and have a shower. Then he tells me today is Sunday. Lol. I thought it was Monday. So plans for today? Think I'll have a long shower.

@soul. We call this Unit 'The Penthouse' - but it doesn't look like your image. I wish. Lol

Re: My Hospital Stay

I think there is something in the air today @utopia - I woke up thinking it was Monday too lol 😂 I was actually relieved when I realised it was Sunday as I am pooped! So yes, that long shower sounds delightful 😚

Am looking forward to your threads explaining the tools the teacher recommends to change those thought patterns. Appreciate you sharing this with us my friend. A good thing for you to relax today as it sounds like you have a busy week ahead like I do. Will be thinking of you and again so happy to read you are feeling better 😊💜

@soul - that vision is dreamy. It's such a delight having you around the forums 🌹

Re: My Hospital Stay

That's a lovely thing to say @Former-Member. I would like to be a genie and give three wishes to everyone here.

I think the environment in which you are when recovering and healing plays an important role. Overlooking a car park can't be that inspiring @utopia but I guess you can't have everything. I'll keep sending you pics so you can at least imagine the view is nicer.

Would this one meet with your approval? Can't you just feel the stress ease?

Re: My Hospital Stay

Hello @soul @Shaz51. I've just watched a movie that I didn't think id like - with another patient. The movie was called Boss Baby. Laughed so hard and so often, I almost wet myself.
Now lying on my bed - curtains open - looking past the car park and the concrete grey buildings - there is the sun setting. Slight glow of yellow/orange light and white and light grey fluffy clouds. Weird looking at the tops of buildings. Can just glimpse a touch of green and brown, swaying in the breeze. A tree!

Hi @utopia

I'm happy to read that you had a few laughs this afternoon while watching a movie. It sounds like it was a rfeally funny movie 🙂

How long are you in hospital for? Do you know?

I have been thinking about you a lot; it's just that sometimes I don't come on to write to you as I have been struggling a bit myself.

What's for dinner tonight? I have made a lentil and bacon soup for dinner. Probably serve it with toast.

Take care @utopia
