My Hospital Stay

My Hospital Stay

So I arrived here at midday today.
Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange.
Not sure what to do now.
Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel.
Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.

Re: My Hospital Stay

@BlueBay. Yes it was a funny movie.
Mood changed quickly though to agitation. Another patient - doing my head in - & I'm running out of patience.
Then I went to get dinner. Yuk. Nothing looked appetising. So grabbed a packet of chips and bottle of coke from the vending machine.
Then got my period. Bugger. Mood plummeted. So took a prn calmer. Now trying to find something funny to watch on tv.
I'm here til the 25th of August.

A funny movie sounds like a good activity to indulge in @utopia. The chips and Coke - hmmmmm?

You may have some chocolate though. There are nutritional benefits in chocolate.

Re: My Hospital Stay

@soul. I agree. I think chocolate has all the vitamins and minerals we all need. Lol.
Am just reading in bed. Trying not to think or dwell on anything. Feeling pretty worn out. So may call it a night in a few minutes.
Sweet dreams all.

Re: My Hospital Stay

Woke up with a headache this morning. By midday was feeling really off. Trembly inside my body. So I get my obs taken. Pulse rate 47. Then another nurse checked the pulse again. I went to bed. A nurse stayed with me and kept an eye on my pulse and blood pressure. Asked heaps of questions. Then the gp doctor came. She ordered tests. I said don't do tests. I haven't paid the big bills from last time. But she ordered them anyway. More bills.

Oh dear @utopia ......

Well there will hopefully be something found and treated as a result of these new bills ..... you sorta don't want them to find anything, but then it irks to pay bills for seemingly no reason .....

In any case ..... I look forward to hearing that you are gonna be okay ..... ❣️

So you're feeling a bit off colour @utopia? Could you have caught something from the other people staying there? Hope you're better soon.

Re: My Hospital Stay

Hi @utopia - do you have to pay for tests that are done while you're in hospital? I thought they would just use their own pathology people and bill it all at the end of the stay? Anyway I hope it's nothing - could be just a meds thing? I often feel off when a new med is starting to take effect and they can make your blood pressure do strange things sometimes. Good thing the nurse stayed with you... it's always good to find a dedicated nurse. Hope you're feeling better soon. Take care.

Re: My Hospital Stay

I'm okay. They did the bloods and ecg - the sane as laat time. Every thing comes back clear. I was trying to explain to the different gp - that my chest pain is anxiety based. That my pulse rate drops - due to a combination of the new anti depressant and my blood pressure tablets. I've previously had an ecg, a 24 hr halter monitor and an echo cardiogram. And they showed no problems with my heart.
I told the nurses off last night. I said 'you want me to tell you about any little niggle of discomfort - physical or emotional & then when I do - you over react - you don't listen to me. And I can't pay the bill'
This hospital outsources it's pathology services. And being a private hospital - most people have private health insurance and a lot of people here are quite wealthy. I'm not.
I just wish the staff would listen to me. I just wanted my obs taken. Then monitored - until my pulse got better.
Workcover won't pay for tests - that are physical in nature. I'm on W/C for psych health only.

Re: My Hospital Stay

Is there some sort of consent that you have to give before these tests are done @utopia? I realise that they have a duty of care to make sure you're healthy but I agree that some observation before they go all in would be preferable. Maybe they are in cahoots with the service providers???

Next time, give them this look
