My Hospital Stay

My Hospital Stay

So I arrived here at midday today.
Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange.
Not sure what to do now.
Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel.
Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.

Re: My Hospital Stay

I've been home from hospital 16 days (if my math is right). The days are still a struggle. The afternoons filled with urges to drink. AA only in my town on Mondays. There's one tonight at 8pm but it's a good 50 minute drive away through the back country roads & it's so cold outside. So I keep putting off other meetings.
My sleep routine is getting bad again. It's too cold in the mornings to get up. The heater keeps my lounge room warm, but no other room in the house.
Still no sign that my son wants to come home. He's been at my mums since late April. And in all honesty, I don't think I'm able to have him home yet.
My mood is on tenterhooks. I've only cooked for myself 3 times since I've been home. Still haven't unpacked. Haven't done any cleaning. Haven't walked the dogs. Just have no motivation for anything.
Still don't have a psychiatrist to look after my medication. I don't think my AD dose is high enough yet. The treating psychiatrist at the last hospital was meant to write a referral to get one of her colleagues to take me on, as a permanent patient. But they haven't received any referral letter. Left a message for the lady psychiatrist on her voice mail 9 days ago. Still haven't heard anything. Nothing.
It's to hard trying to do it on my own. I don't think I'm succeeding at all.
It's a pity me party for one again.

Don't give up @utopia I still think of it, the urge is still there, but it's not every day anymore; though sometimes it's still very strong and what stops me is knowing I don't want to be that person - I don't like that person . . . I choose the looney, lonely hermit.

Specialist Doctor services suck in rural areas, the one Pysch I saw in my home town, was for 10 minutes on a video screen at the local community center. He ordered some blood tests and I never saw him again.

I've never been to AA, I wonder if they've got anything online?

Loads of love to you Utopia

Ho @Utopia, good job staying away from alcohol for almost 3months 👍🎉 amazing effort that keeps giving back. Are you working through the AA 12 Steps with someone? I think it would be very therapeutic.

Pitty there's not more community support offered you, post hospital discharge.

- Do you have to live so far away from services?

- Can your GP wtite the referral to the new psychiatrist? There's probably a waiting time too, so get onto that soon.

- your GP can increase / change your antidepressants (scrips).

Understand that 'zero motivation' for anything, makes it so hard living by yourself, even the healthy complain how hard it is to cook for one. I eat better if i cook in bulk and freeze in meal size portions Or cook for two every second day. I steamed up cauliflour, broccoli. Carrots - kinda feel it doing me good already lol (but hey, pteaching to myself here. tonight I just had noodles. 😕 take care!

Hang in there Utopia 💜💕🌷🌿
