My Hospital Stay

My Hospital Stay

So I arrived here at midday today.
Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange.
Not sure what to do now.
Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel.
Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.

Thanks @Zoe7 & @Faith-and-Hope. Had a sleep. Just finished dinner.
Tonight will be the first music concert / performance my son does - that I won't be attending. Been to them all over the 9 years he has played an instrument.
Hoping the night will go quickly.

Hi @utopia - that must be difficult to miss your son's concert. Will it be recorded so you can see it later? I can relate to what your son must be feeling - I went through similar circumstances when I was much younger than him. The only warning I would get would be an uncle or someone turning up at school to collect me and staying with whoever for a while and not getting told anything about where my mum was or what was going on. It just created fear in my mind. It's great that you're keeping him informed. Stability and security are the most important things - if he knows what is going on then he won't have that fear of the unknown. Don't expect him to be rational - he is a fifteen year old boy after all. In time he will understand that you being in hospital is for the best... having you well is the best outcome for everybody and it looks like you are making real progress to achieve that. Keep up the good work and have a peaceful night.

Re: My Hospital Stay

Well last night I got chest pain. The nurse freaked out & wanted to send me to hospital (regular hospital). Ling story short. Pain got higher. So off I went to a different public hospital.
So I have the halter heart monitor on & then they hook me up to about 12 other electrodes. Got back to the Psych hospital after 6 am this morning. No problem with my heart. All okay.
I told the nurse here last night that it was most likely new physical reaction to anxiety.
Think I was right.
But after having all those electrode things stuck all over my body - my singlet top is sticking to my skin. Lol. Think I'll be trying to get the glue off for days.

Re: My Hospital Stay

@utopia,

I'm glad you are ok and the chest pain was a false alarm. Thank goodness. I have had the same thing happened to me. I went to the emergency department of a public hospital, as I thought I was having a heart attack. (this was months ago). Turns out it was nothing.

The young doctor I had even said "Have you been experiencing a lot of stess lately?" So when the blood tests came back negative for a heart attack, she straight away thought the cause would be stress. Interesting.

It's amazing how stress can manifest in our bodies.

So glad that you are alright. xx
