My Hospital Stay

My Hospital Stay

So I arrived here at midday today.
Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange.
Not sure what to do now.
Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel.
Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.

Re: My Hospital Stay

Let's see @utopia

You had a meltdown in Group Therapy

You missed your son's recital

And you have had your hospital stay extended -

And I don't know what I have missed

So chest pain - yes - that can be serious - and painful - and I am glad you have had ECGs done and it seems to be stress

Sticky skin and clothes - I have had that one - that stickiness gets everywhere

Most of all I am glad you have this extra time in hospital - a lot of you was broken and then you had that bad doctor who causes people so much anxiety - puzzled he still works there

I have met a few in my time - not just in Mental Health but perhaps the medical career can attract the wrong people - for the wrong reasons

Whatever Utopia - I am glad you are where you are now - I am sorry about your son but that is one of the things - we can't wait until everyone else is okay with it before we attend to our our health - I had a struggle with this in the past

Thinking of you

Re: My Hospital Stay

Yep ..... I have experienced that with stress ..... it's a warning sign to slow down if you can, and take the time to de-stress ......

That's speaking generally @utopia ..... I know you are doing the best you can with each moment you find yourself in at the moment, but hopefully that's a flag to the staff anyway .....

Re: My Hospital Stay

Hi @utopia, that sounds frightening. Glad you got checked out and got the all clear. Isn't it weird the Private hospital couldn't deal with that (guess they don't havw 24/7 pathology and doctors...).

Stress triggers heart, gut and chest problems. But a lot of psych medications can affect the heart too and you've had recent changes in meds. Your Dr needs to know about this and review that.

I had a rare bad episode of SVT in the dinning room when in hospital. My heart beats so fast the blood doesn't get to my head and have to sit, lay down to stop fainting. Makes me laugh now how the few people about ignored it at first, I think they thought I was attention seeking, one nurse tried to tell me it was a panic attack (without checking my pulse), I dragged my chair to the fishbowl door and got the attention of the Charge Nurse who knew what SVT was and checked my pulse with that portable electric BP machine - it was 280, and if cause I had no blood pressure. They helped me to bed and it self reverted in 20min. A Dr came a bit later, took bloods and came back later to tell me there was evidence of minor heart damage from it, but no need to worry. Felt stupid since I was there for SI and panicked with heart crisis. Very different to you but just reminded me of it and how casual they were.

Hi @Sahara, @Owlunar, haven't forgotten you guys, just reeeeeely tired 🌷🌿

Re: My Hospital Stay

Thanks everyone. I kept telling the staff here that they were over worrying. But if you say chest - they don't dilly dally. If you say you have pain anywhere - they investigate.
Had a big cry in the ED. Feeling all alone and vulnerable / scared.
Had the nurses in and out of my room all day. Feeling nauseas and faint and still chest pains. BP & temp all ok. My pulse was very low. Feeling better now and eating a sandwich wrap.
My psychiatrist is here and will see me soon. I also didn't get my meds last night.
But I had a nap today. And feeling a lot better.
Hard to be sick so far from home.

Thanks @Former-Member @Zoe7. Have slept most of the day. Still chest pain but pulse now in the 50's instead of 40's.

Part 3
Friday
Had my Echocardiogram today. It's really just an ultrasound of the heart. They will send the results to my gp at home. If there is a problem detected or medication needed - they will fax results to this hospital.
Had awful heart pain all day (on and off). I still think it's anxiety / stress driven. Even though I'm feeling calm.
Guess what? A funny.
I found out my psych had been to the hospital while I was out getting my test done. I asked had they passed my request on - that I be given independent leave. Guess what? The nurse looks through my book and says I've had leave since the 19th of this month.
4 whole days and I've been trying to squeeze the dregs out of my toothpaste. Lol.
All good. Have a couple of orn calmers throughout the day. Nurses trying to stop my chest pain. So they tried the calmers and then the indigestion med that you drink - when you are pregnant.
I told the nurse just to click his fingers and teach me the secret of no anxiety.
He suggested I think about the Old Bugger. I laughed and he *the nurse) couldn't stop laughing. Was a giggle.
