My Hospital Stay

My Hospital Stay

So I arrived here at midday today.
Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange.
Not sure what to do now.
Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel.
Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.

Re: My Hospital Stay

@Owlunar - when I arrived at this 2nd private hospital - I waa given a new 14 day stay. I came in on a Wednesday so believe my time is up in 2 more days. Waiting for my psychiatrist to come in (hopefully tonight). As she was hoping to get WorkCover to extend another 14 days.
We haven't even spoken about my MI & the cause or my lack of luving ability. So ahe us yet to make a diagnosis. It has all been about trying to protect my brain from the trauma if the Old Bugger & that weekend.
But I really want to get my meds right and start attending more groups to give me the kick start to manage my self care and coping techniques that work for me.
@Former-Member - I'm being really honest with the nurses on how I'm really feeling. Even if it makes me sound paranoid - I let them know.
Am totally exhausted. Time for a nap

Missing you too @utopia - so very much

I made it to the chemist and bank but that is as far as I could manage. I can't say my day is really improving but as long as it doesn't get any worse I supppose we can call that a win my friend

Re: My Hospital Stay

Hi Utopia. Really sorry to hear you are in hospital. You wrote some very supportive messages to me so I guess its my turn to respond.

If its anything like my stays and I have had , three there can be a tremendous difference in the feelings you get. From the Immense caring of some through to the feeling of being in a jail when I was in Darwin.

Stay focused on you.

Even in my worst experince in Darwin there was one nurse who cared. Who gave me understanding and compassion. He left me with the words that hav got me through so many bad days since.

It can be quite fearful if you are anything like me. I hated the feeling of having to conform to rules and structures that really didnt match me. Its hard for the stff to treat you as an individual sometimes. Stay strong.

Hi @depression101 - welcome to the Forum Family

My son was in prison many years ago and I have never spoken to anyone else I knew was in prison - so I am glad to hear that there was a nurse who helped you

My son was in Juvey - so it was different from a real prison but it was a terrible place - but because I visited him every week - often twice and sometimes even more the workers were very kind to me - which helped a lot

It must be so hard to be in prison where your choices are all taken away - I can't imagine that

Re: My Hospital Stay

Its incredibly hard to be in any place were you have to be in someone else control. Its like your last bastion of who you are has been taken away from you.

Unfortunately Mental health Hospitals still take this control from their patients under the guise of Helping you.

Standing in line for meals. When you can watch some Tv. Controlling things like razors yet there are so many other options available if you insist on self harm.

Its still an undignified experience, Removing your dignity is the complete opposite of caring for you.

I do hope so much that Utopia is getti g a much more pleasant exp[erience. One that is caring and nurturing.

Beautiful @Zoe7. Thank you. I was up before 6.30 this morning. 1 hour to wait for smoko courtyard to open. Has a much needed shower and stripped the bed.
Being cheeky and hoping the cleaners will remake my bed. Lol. I am lazy.
Hope you managed a deep dreamless sleep by beautiful butterfly friend.
