Hi @outlander ....

I answered this one (above) on the other thread, but I have just found your post from last night where you asked about other things I do for self-care and de-stress ....

Here is a list -

Carry on with practical things in the day around me - washing on, make bed, etc = staying busy, taking baby steps.

Walk

Pyjama day if I have no energy and WH is away

Coffee somewhere out

Cal a friend

Go for a drive

Sleep

Music - often have earbuds in, even when at home .... during a period with panic attack a a couple of years ago now I played classics piano music almost constantly to calm my nerves and keep me away from that edge .... all night sometimes ..... now playing that music calms me automatically so it has become my go-to now when there has been a blow-out with WH.

Art

Dance

TV shows

Reading

Foot soak

Massage (even 15mins helps) or self-massage roller

Cooking

Shopping

Jigsaw puzzles

Magazines

Movie with the kids

Board games with the kids

💙💕

If the papsmear can be put off @outlander
Perhaps some SA counselling would be good before you have the pap smear, but check with GP/nurse. 💟
Sorry for butting in 😮😊

Re: im back..... i think

No thata quite alright @Former-Member i wondered and value your opinion
And your not butting in 🤗🤗😊😊
Um i think it can but at the same time i think I just need to get it over and done with
The more i dwell and the longer i wait it seems to just cause me more stress of tgar makes sense

Re: im back..... i think

@outlander I often think to myself 'just do it and then it's done', it has helped get things done that otherwise would not have. If this exam is something that your dreading, it might be better to get it over and done with. If the results are good, then the stress of worry will probably dissipate; if they aren't entirely good, then something can start being done about it.

My heads a little frazzled, I'm actually trying to avoid the Forum a little (obviously not so well right now) I wonder whether being happy triggers me somehow? But I have been dealing with this for half a century and will continue to do so, hoping that it can show you and others that it can be done. There is joy, even if it does trigger, it is worth it!

Re: im back..... i think

Yes, I understand @outlander
I too find it best to get things over and done with.
I know it's hard, but try and distract as much as possible.
When my daughter worries, one of the things I say is, worrying won't change anything, if you can't change a situation, try and think about something else.
Easier said than done, but if practised often for a long time, we can change our thoughts. 😊💜

Re: im back..... i think

Hi @outlander

I am usually busy all day on Fridays - but I am in today -

I think taking yourself to the place where you are having the exam and chatting to the person there is a good idea -

One thing that makes me stop and think is when I ask myself - am I having this or that done because I think I need it or someone else has made that decision? - Unless these is some obvious reason that it needs to be done tomorrow - yes - as someone else said - think about it a bit and talk with the person who would be doing the test

All the best though - and is the topical cream helping the breast problem?

Re: im back..... i think

thank yuo beautiful @Former-Member i like being on these forums- you know why? not just to support others but it really does feel like family here- sometimes i wish i had a good parent as many of people are wonderful parents on here and often seem to have the best advice

ok well i dont know how to distract myself from this as it it obviously a massive trigger and an unknown one for that. i didnt know it was going to affect me that much.

on monday im going to brave the nurse and at least ask the questions and discuss my concerns surrounding this and then i think ill jsut organise the exam when she says when the best time in the cycle is to get it done but atm ive skipped an entire month! @Former-Member@Former-Member

and @Former-Member you should do the things that make you happy. is there anything bothering you about being on the forums that maybe we could help you along with?

Re: im back..... i think

oh my @Owlunar im glad to see you here!

thats going to be on monday and maybe ill have a few people holding my hand while im there. i really hope so

my nurse said its not particularly urgent that i get it done right this second but she is worried about the damage that has been done as it was very rough esp being young. so she would like to start checking things out and would like to run some tests and get STD testing done and feel for any abnormalites and she would like it done soon but not as soon as monday so i think ill be ok to just have that talk with her and get some of my questions answered

i would also like to be checked in a way incase there is something wrong and i can treat/mamange before things get worse or to a stage beyond repair

the cream i dont think is doning much as yet, when anythign touches it it feels like im being pinched and what lump is was its now not a lump its like fluid has been sucked in and creating a dip but its still spreading out like its leaking

how have you been?

In response to: im back..... i think

Re: im back..... i think

Sounds like a good idea, if you can be brave and have it done on Monday. @outlander
The nurse will help you through it.
Once it's over, you'll feel relieved and proud of yourself and the worry will be over.
Anyway, chat with the nurse first.
I'm sure she'll understand 😊
