What do you do when you arent feeling safe but you dont want to go to the hospital and helplines arent working? Also what do you do when distractions and all of that stuff isnt working either?

Re: Safety

sorry, it sounds so confusing and overwhelming @Eden1919 - im guessing that your psychologist asked you to give your word or promise that you would stay safe, i know that its really important to you that you keep promises.. did they tell you what to doif you were feeling unsafe?

Re: Safety

my psychologist now knows about a whole bunch of stuff @Former-Member he knows too much and he said that if had to pretend this all is not real but it is and i dont think i can do that and my caseworker made me promise yesterday that i would be safe and said i could call them if i needed to but now i am really worried and i cant take this there is too much going on and i am super agitated and i feel like someone is going to try and hurt me and i cant do this and i really dont feel good. i am sorry.

Re: Safety

maybe you could call them and tell them that it really is feeling really real and explain why so that they understand where you are at right now? if that isnt possible, is there anything else that might help you feel less agitated? like going for a walk or doing something else physical? Vacuuming a room etc. you dont have anything to be sorry for!

Re: Safety

i know how that feels @Eden1919 - sometimes its just too hard to do anything and it feels like nothing will help. its ok, im just focussing on breathing at the moment and doing little things every little while. have been using an app called ACT companion to do some sensory grounding things and being here today has helped a bit. be kind to yourself, you're doing the best you can and you havent stopped fighting, you're still here. stay safe

Hi @Eden1919

It sounds like what is important right now is to bring you back to the present. A lot of what you have mentioned is worrying you right now is possibilities of what could happen in the future.

Would you like to try some grounding exercises with us here in the Forums?

Re: Safety

I hope you guys don't mind me jumping in here - especially you @Eden1919...

I know that you have been fearful for some time that everyone in you 'care team' will 'get together' and put 'things' together and you feel that is the end of the road (in a manner of speaking) but I have noticed several things over the last few weeks and from our late night chats. You tend to get more paranoid the less sleep you have had and I know you have not been sleeping well (I am usually up with you lol). You also get really nervous and anxious directly before and straight after your appointments. When your OCD is 'out of control' you are also more negative. The things I have noticed that help you in some small ways are people sitting with you and you being able to write freely - it doesn't have to make sense it is more about moving all the 'stuff' from your head and placing in front of you on paper or on the screen.

The other thing that I have noticed is that you a very supportive person of others who are struggling - and sometimes the supporting of others or distracting yourself on other threads breaks up the negative thinking enough for you to be able to focus on things that you can do to help yourself - you have certainly supported me many times even when you haven't felt so great yourself.

I am with @NikNik - some grounding exercises would be great to try here - writing is probably a great place to start - and we are here to listen (read) as you write.

Courage, strength, belief - you can do this buddy
