I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

@CheerBearyou are trying to take care of yourself to take care of your LF. I know how hard that is sometimes. You may not be superhuman but you are a loving, kind, compassionate mum to your LF. Please remember that

Re: I'm in a nest

Hearing you @CheerBear. How brave you are to be ordered and organised about this. That is truly self care in action, and so, so hard to do. Brave you!

Touchy it is here too, something happened today that has me thinking about what I might need to do for my own self care. Taking some time away from here might be what I end up doing. I was going to be a bit quiet for this weekend anyway, but this has tipped the balance.

Please tag me with your posts, that will mean I don't have to log on to see things I want to see, your posts are some of the things I want to see, okay!

Make sure you have some crafty items for sitting quietly on the balcony, won't you. (I'm pretty sure that's allowed???)

Doing what is the best thing for you, and ultimately, the little ones, is the best preparation for a better future for all of you.

Look after you @CheerBear, you are very precious to many people.

Re: I'm in a nest

Thank you for hearing me @Maggie and for your understanding encouragement @Snowie and your ❤ @outlander. Never an intrusion @Sophia1, though hearing it can feel like that sometimes. Really appreciate seeing you 🙂

@Snowie, our early morning conversation about hospital a while ago, has been on my mind. It's helped me realise that I truly do believe that to look after them I need to look after me where I can too, and this would be so helpful. I don't feel as guilty about the need for time out in this respect as I did last time which is great. I love them so much, and they can be intense and exceptionally demanding sometimes. And I'm ok with them knowing I'm not totally without my limits, and that I need a break, as we all do in a way I think, occasionally (just not so ok with asking for this kind of support to get it maybe). In a way, you reaching out that morning, and our chat, is helping me even a while later. Maybe a bit random, hope that's ok to say, and hugs for you.

@Former-Member thank you so much. I'm hearing you and "touchy" probably describes how I am feeling also. Miss seeing you around when you're not here but I do believe that you know what is best for you, and you are very able to prioritise doing that. Lots of respect there. You bring me smiles, the nicest inspiring crafty chats, and heart feels (a metric something tonne of them I think 😉 ). Thank you SunShower, for bringing you here. And no matter where I am, there's always craft something next to me ❤

I'm going to wait until the crew is less up than they are now then ask. I can do this and whatever happens, I will work it out from there.
