I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

Re: I'm in a nest

Hello to the nesters.

I'm not going to tag people, I just want to respond to a couple of things mentioned.

Thank you for the explanations of your particular shorthands, - although, if an explanation can be written, then it doesn't make sense that a code is needed - but that's just my mind and the way it works.

A code, by it's very definition is meant to keep secrets from a particular person/ group/ whatever. Being privy to a code also provides a sense of belonging to the group that uses and understands the code. That's what a code is for. That it keeps out others is a side effect of said code. Unexpected effect perhaps.

I appreciate the thoughtfulness of those who have written messages, or offered support under the like button. Sincerely appreciated.

To write more here would not be right.

I trust your day will have something pleasant in it for each of you.

Re: I'm in a nest

Popping in to say thanks @outlander (so pretty), hi back to @Faith-and-Hope (and thanks for sharing your art work - lots of wow) and a hello to anyone who may be reading.

I have had a pretty big couple of days and I am feeling a bit more than a bit knocked about from a few different angles at the moment. Still standing though, and I haven't completely melted or exploded, so I am high-fiving myself for that alone right now. Small wins.

Something interesting popped up in an appointment yesterday. My psychiatrist report finally came in from January and who I am from that perspective, no longer says cluster B traits as it was changed to cluster C traits (something about anxiety and avoidance - no idea why (just kidding) ). Food for thought as it may actually be helpful to have that to work with in a way.

I have one more c-link thing to get through this week with my first DES appointment tomorrow morning which I am so far from thrilled about, and then we head away. Today is my day off from appointments so I'm going to spend it organising things around the house so we can go and I'm really hoping that by tonight we will be ready-ish. The littler people are very excited now and I think some time out and away will be good for us all.

Thinking of lots and sending best wishes to all.

Hi @CheerBear ..... 💐💕

Good to see you.

Wow ..... your diagnosis has “moved” ..... that’s pretty big and must bring mixed feelings with it, but it reads to me like a positive .... (I hope that is okay to say ?) ..... anticipating that it’s fluidity in indicative of changes that are part of recovery.

I hope you have a fantastic break away.

Hugs 💜

Re: I'm in a nest

Hi @CheerBear,

I am super glad you are still standing despite being knocked around from different angles.

I'm also glad that you are finding it helpful that the psychiatrist suggested a new way to frame your muddle. You've got to laugh at the lack of validity of diagnoses in psychiatry! To me, the idea that we can go to one person and get one label, and go to another person and get another label, makes a mockery of the whole idea that we must leave it to the "experts" to diagnose. The "experts" truly don't have any secret special knowledge!

I hope the CL and DES appointments go as well as they can. I totally get how far from thrilled you would be about those!

Time away with the littler people sounds fun. I am guessing that they have become littler people rather than LF due to the whole idea of not talking in code. Change is hard. I super miss hearing about the LF, and especially puffer fish.

Hey...I'm looking at the picture of the unicorn that @outlander posted. You've mentioned before that you have unicorn hair. Does that mean that your hair looks like that of the unicorn in that picture? I can't begin to tell you what a funny picture that makes in my brain.

I hope today has more than a little bit of good in it for you my not-friend.

Re: I'm in a nest

My Number 2 Son (S2) has stayed in bed and not gone to class today. He was up late gaming last night, which I understand to be an emotional escape as much as it is an attraction that appeals greatly to his artiness as well.

Mr. Faith-and-Hope is not Coping with you this at all this morning ...... despite S2 being advanced in all his classes and effectively free-ranging with his studies (with tutor permission) ......as long as all his submissions are in order ...... and so is in a dragon state of temper. A rage has been diverted by him leaving the house to drive to his favourite coffee precinct ...... but I don’t think it has been averted ...... the dragon is boiling with indicnation and a need to control his son’s outcomes ..... and his wife (that being me) is firmly standing by the fact that in order to develop his adult independence this S2 “baby dragon” needs to make his own decisions and manage the consequences / outcomes of that ...... and this thinking aligns with everything the mental health team have been saying across the last year now.

This appears to be beside the point in enraged-dragon-thinking ....., as part of the instruction to S2 was to attend uni ..... as in go to classes ...... and a hit-and-miss approach is not ticking Mr. F&H’s boxes ..... at all ......

I, too, have left the house ..... firstly for coffee and breakfast ..... then for a long pressure-escaping walk.
