I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.
In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.
Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.
I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.
Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.
Hi @CheerBear, so glad you have had some good moments today, healing is much wished for you. I've had an okay day, just very slow as often happens. But I've just done two loads of washing and been talking to my friend about another place to look at on Saturday. So my day feels slightly productive at this point. Hope the rest of today keeps up the good work.

Re: I'm in a nest
Hi in the nest,
Today I did some productive things (as I read you have been doing @Mazarita ☺) like groceries and cleaning (something in a smoothie blender container thing fell down the back part of the fridge and was left for way too long because I didn't see and it exploded - like a big proper bang sending grossness everywhere explosion 😮).
It was a good enough day. Though I am not feeeling 100%, I am doing a better than a few days ago, which is a relief. I keep getting hits of anxiety (huge fear probably) which may take some working through, so today I also started the process of making an appointment with the psychiatrist which is bit of a big thing for me. I don't tend to go so well with them (at all) but we'll see.
One of the littles (Clown fish) melted this afternoon with their own giant missing people feelings, which was sad. School holidays still have a lot less friends than they used to 🙁 We spoke lots about who and what was missed and how and why things happened the way they did. They're really hard conversations but I am hoping they feel better for getting some of it out. My clown fish is a bottle up and then explode one (maybe a bit like what happened in the fridge :face_with_rolling_eyes:).
Wonky little circus sometimes.
Hoping things are ok/ok enough for all. I am especially thinking of you tonight @Former-Member and wondering how you're getting on with the house bus if you want to share 💚

Smoothie thing down the back of the fridge sounds icky, @CheerBear. Great that we have both had a productive day. Sorry about the big fear that has been arising, understandably, and about the sadness of the fish being upset about lost people. I'm sending big wishes to the universe that the psychiatrist you see is one of the good ones. I would be very sorry to lose mine and, as you know, have had a lot of help come from seeing psychiatrists over a long time. Hoping it works out this way for you too.

Re: I'm in a nest
Thanks @Mazarita. I remember I tried this psychiatrist thing when I first came to the forum and you gave me hope right from the start that maybe it could be helpful. (I still remember that too 😉) but then I broke too much and it didn't happen. The psychiatrist is partner of the practice with my psychologist. My psychologist gave me two names for a psychiatrist. One "who is a big fluffy teddy" and one "who is nice but really tough" which is then who he said he thought I needed. I trust my psych (mostly) so I went with mice but tough. They all scare me anyway so even a teddy feels not right. Plus I can always do a runner and not go back if I don't want to be there anymore 😁 Or maybe, hopefully, it can help. Thanks for getting it and understanding 💗
@Former-Member - I am so reluctant to tag and say hi because I respect that you might be more comfortable being a bit quieter and it means lots to see you however it is, but I did want to say that I am thinking of you, understanding how we share some similar stuff. And I know how painful and hard and exhausting it is for me so I imagine you might feel that sometimes too. I wish so much of this world was different so this stuff didn't happen in the first place. Caring and wanting to listen (or sit quietly) if you want sometime.

@CheerBear, given that choice, I would have taken the teddy, lol. Hope the other psychiatrist's 'nice' is very nice.

Re: I'm in a nest
Haha I can see why that may be a preferred option @Mazarita. I know I can be really difficult and I am probably way more of a, trying to find a nice way of saying disagreeable feisty snowflake but it isn't working, than I need to be sometimes. My MH worker is fluffy and that's nice and I value our work, but we have hit a wall. I can also find fluffy when I need (which I do need and do really appreciate). So maybe tough can work as an addition to the team. If he's too tough I can cry about it here with understanding ears and eyes then tell my psych he got it wrong also (which I sort of enjoy doing too).
(Half kidding about all of that 😉)
Tough and very nice would be ideal ☺
I'm going to head off and wind down with some boring show I think. Hope your night continues well Maz. Nice catching you as always.
Catch you (all) later ☺
Night

Ah yes, I can see how tough may be a good trait when faced with a feisty snowflake, @CheerBear
Lovely talking with you, as always. Enjoy your wind down and sleep well tonight when you get there.

Re: I'm in a nest
Hi @CheerBear
I'm sorry that i make it feel uncomfortable to tag me, please dont feel that you cant, but on the flip side im so erratic at the moment that i find it hard to reply in so many situations. im terrified of all the personal connections and feeling and caring and trust. and I make sense... not! im just a confused human...
Yes we have many similiarities which is both somewhat disheartening and relieving at the same time... I read a little while ago.. days/weeks? eek sorry... that you were having papers disappear and guessing that its the same papers that were removed from us last year and was terrifying too. We also had the same situation where the people in blue took options out of my hands and did what they felt was best at the time which wasnt what i wanted, im still in so many minds now about what would have been best then and now for us and we are still 'stuck' in so many ways. My groovy girl struggles wtih the situation in different ways and the things that she is told and we have many difficult conversations to manage that break my heart more. More than anything when i was planning a family in my head growing up and after meeting the person i thought was going to be safe and 'the one'... my family was going to be filled with people and love and a relationship that i could be safe in and feel and be loved etc... too much to ask for i guess and after a life time of the opposite up till then im not sure why i thought i could manage to escape that to something different either.
