I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

Re: I'm in a nest

Up until now I've stayed away from really using ADs too, though I've had many prescribed over years. I can't stick out the side effects and they seem to make things harder in the short term at least @Former-Member. I now have an atypical AD which i question whether it's making things better or doing nothing (or possibly making it worse - it's chicken and egg stuff), a prn antipsychotic for mega anxiety which I rarely use and a prn sleeping med which I rarely use as well.

Sorry to hear about your friends 😞 The superficiality of people sometimes really stinks. You seem so generous and kind and I can see why that would have hurt with your friend. I lost almost every friend I had and now have only a very tiny circle of people left. Lost all social media as well which I'd heavily relied on to keep in touch with everyone including extended family and long time friends. It was here one minute and gone the next for life as I knew. I have a giant wall up now because my heart has been hurt so badly and I'm too tired and guarded to do it again I think. Annnnyway, happy with a tiny circle, forum friends and not-friends for now 🙂 One day it might shift.

No public holiday here for us. I didn't know there was one anywhere.

What's for dinner?

Tiny quiches for us with those delish dumplings to look forward to (provided they work!).

Re: I'm in a nest

Same here @CheerBear
I have my wall up and I'm not ready to start over again just yet. I don't have the energy.
Must have been so hard for you to move, lose friends etc.
I think I read a little of your story somewhere a little while ago. I'm still trying to remember who is who and their stories 😀😮 (on the forums)
I was in a physically/emotionally abusive relationship years ago. Thankfully we weren't married and no children involved.
I am no longer a "victim". But friends and family didn't particularly like me putting up boundaries, to which I do not care. 😆😂
I just need to gently put my wall down, some day and maybe let people in my life again. Not yet, not strong enough yet. Still too sensitive.
Sorry for raving on in your "nest". Maybe I should say my "stuff" somewhere else?? I don't want to burden you or overwhelm you.

Not cooking tonight. Cooked steak and veg earlier. Showered and in pjs already. So exhausted. Need to find something easy to eat.
I tried heaps of ADs. All they did for me was cause terrible side affects.
Perhaps your doc could give you different anti anxiety and sleep meds . Have you had a second opinion?

Labour day holiday here. Shops are shut too i think.
My girl has been home snuggling for a change. Life can be stressful in high school. Well anywhere actually 😮😣😨😂
Have to be tough to survive that's for sure .

Hmm! That was a big rave. 😂

Rave away @Former-Member 🙂 I like seeing you out of your shell a bit when you're happy to come out. Sometimes it's nice to be able to have a quiet chat with a friend/not friend in a nest 💕

I've got hungry fish to feed but will come back when all is quieter in the house. Leaving cake for you seeing as you can't taste the real deliciousness 🍰 Love and hugs 😙

Re: I'm in a nest

I had a feeling you were @Former-Member. So sorry to hear. It can do some pretty serious damage 😞 It's good to hear you've moved away from being a victim. Is the group you go to part of this? I'm piecing bits of your story together as we get to know each other and feeling like you kind of let a little out here and there and then retreat for a while? Or maybe I'm missing it altogether and way off - entirely possible knowing me 😂 I've kind of put bits of my story around too, enough i think that most people I 'know' here know enough. I've been working on writing it in a way that's safe on a number of levels and may one day put it here, somewhere it can be hidden probably. I have to be super careful how I speak about things because I can very easily fall into feeling like it's happening all over again, and then I sink, plus I don't want to be found. Something that really hurts me is that I left and grew strong enough that it wouldn't touch me so it kind of got me via where they go when they can't go for you directly. Safety came first so it was goodbye to most of everything. Now I'm left picking up the pieces. For me this is harder going than living it to start with. I don't like talking about what happened too much so I'm going to stop there. I don't mind talking to others about what's happened for them though and am pretty understanding of how much of a brain/heart/soul mess around it can be. I think I like hearing these stories because they often shine with strength, resilience, resourcefulness, courage etc in almost total darkness. I met some incredible women where we were moved and spent hours at a time listening and feeling inspired. We laughed a lot, and I find that so many people have been through so much awfulness have a great sense of humour. Getting teary, in a good but sad kind of way.

Forgot that labour day varied across states. Hope your daughter enjoyed her day off. Being a teenager is so stressful. Although I think parenting a teenager would have its fair share of stress too! What subject she like most at school?

Our dumplings were way too sweet, which says a lot for me haha!

Here's to tough women who survive 💪

💛

Re: I'm in a nest

Hello nest dwellers. I'm planning to jump off the computer soon, I'm just swinging by here to remind all nest dwellers that I'm here even when I'm not here. @CheerBear, wow, the catt must change their name a lot! Twenty years ago when I was getting dragged into hospital by the police pretty much every second weekend, they were the MHET (mental health emergency team) and thus that's the term I tend to still have in my head - either that or the "crisis team." I agree with you, CheerBear, a different name really doesn't make a difference!

Anyway, I hope you all have a peaceful night. I don't plan to re-appear until tomorrow evening. I will probably lurk around on my phone (hence "liking" posts without responding) a bit though. I love that you appreciate the concept of a not-friend @Former-Member. Night all.

I love that you appreciate how much a name change doesn't cut it too @Phoenix_Rising. And also love the idea that you're lurking around, here but not here 😄 Not-friends are kind of great! Sleep well tonight

Re: I'm in a nest

@CheerBear yep, not-friends are cool...and right now I'm your not-friend who is not here, while still being here. Er...probably don't mention to the catt that you have a turtle not-friend who is here even when not here. Or...if you do feel the need to mention it, just tell them that it's like schrodinger's catt.

Re: I'm in a nest

No real favourite subject @CheerBear
She's just looking forward to finishing her last year. It's full on as she likes to achieve high marks.
It's ok re past traumas really. It's just learning to cope with lack of support from family and friends that I'm finding difficult now.
It's been deeply hurtful how my family has treated me and things got ignored etc.
Long involved story. Body just not coping with all the stress.

😂 I do retreat on here sometimes, alot lately. It usually means I'm super depressed. I hate to write when I'm really depressed. I worry that everyone can feel it, if that makes sense. That no onewants to be around a depressed person. I prefer to come on the forums to either try and be there for others or to come on ti distract and try and have a joke/laugh. Have been finding it difficult to have a laugh lately.
Today the depression has lifted a little. I guess that's why I'm raving on. 😂
