I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

Re: I'm in a nest

Good morning @Phoenix_Rising (my phone now struggles to work out whether "@phoenix_rising" or "in the nest" is what will follow Good morning).

I can imagine the trickiness that may happen really feeling that "learning to cope" as an answer might bring. You did well to be at TT last night, especially following the conversation with Turtle Whisperer.

As a total side note random, re the baby moderators thing - I feel it is appropriate to mention this now as it's given me a bit of a giggle. My big operation adventure has to do with some super sensitive stuff that requires really hard conversations (and more) regarding body bits and pieces. BM is an acronym I see in a whole different light 😉

It's almost fish o'clock and I'm going on an excursion (just a little one) today with a BIG group of little fish so I had better get moving. Good luck with your marking gig today. I wish I could join you - I'd love to read through some of those assignments with you.

☺

@CheerBear I sat down at my computer to start marking and somehow landed here instead (but only briefly). I just asked google what BM means in medical terms.

An excursion with a school of little fish sounds super fun. I hope you have a great day. And thanks for making it such that I will never ever see the term BM in the same way again.

@CheerBear Sorry things are tough right now. If I have this right, CG sure looks good on you. Sorry for the lack of words.

Re: I'm in a nest

Good morning everyone ... 👋💕

@Phoenix_Rising, I would like to make an observation .....

I think you are very good at making "'I' statements".

To me, language, and in fact any sort of communication, is made up of building blocks. Think of Lego if it helps you to put a visual on it. And if you can think of "'I' statements" as the singular blue Lego blocks for instance .... can your Turtle Whisperer help you to identify other blocks of communication that you do have, rather than the focus being on what (perhaps) you don't have ..... ?

I hope this is not confusing .... it is clear in my own mind, but then I might be speaking in F&H dialect, and expecting everyone and anyone to be able to follow this line of thought, this analogy ....

To continue with this analogy, perhaps most people have, say, a x2 white block, but you don't have that one in your set, so your Lego communication looks very different to the Lego communication that other people around you are using .....

And it makes you feel like giving up .....

But if you can learn to put two x1 white blocks in place of where other people use one x2 white block .... or even a x2 yellow block if that will work well enough .... then TT Lego dialect could be adapted for people who are only fluent in their own Lego dialect, to help them become a little more flexible about communicating.

Communicating is about bridging a devide to deliver and receive messages .... does it matter what that bridge looks like at the end of the day ?

Hi @Phoenix_Rising

I have not been on this forum for a long time but have been able to make my way around quite a few threads and have seen you interact with people.

I think you communicate great with people and will make a wonderful CG. I like the fact that you speak it how you see it. It also means that people know you are being 100% honest with them, a trait so many people do not have. I know some might disagree, however I find it refreshing. I think 'beating around the bush' as how people would say it, does know one no good.

So please keep being you, being direct and speaking turtle

Hi all ☺

@Maggie - thank you 💗 I am so SO glad you stuck around. I would have really missed you had you not. I haven't caught up on anything since this morning so I'm not sure how you're getting on, but I hope your garden and fur baby are good for you today. It's so sunny and lovely here.

@Phoenix_Rising - one day maybe you'll revisit some of those posts looking at it the way I did and you won't be able to unsee what I saw 😆

Hi @Faith-and-Hope, @Former-Member ☺ and @Former-Member 💗☕

Coffee, sunshine and forum moment after spending my morning with 40 big and tiny fish. Finally I was the cool kid at school as I had a few little mates for the morning wanting to tag along with me 😉 It was really fun. Teachers don't get paid enough though!

@CheerBear@Phoenix_Rising I've looked up BM also and first came up with Bowel Movement, scratched head and re googled..... I think I have it now. 😳😳

Re: I'm in a nest

@Maggie er...now I'm confused. I came up with bowel movement when I googled and figured that's what @CheerBear was referring to. What did you come up with Maggie??? Either way, methinks one of us is on the wrong track and either way it is going to be super funny when CheerBear clarifies.

Oops, not going to mention what I came up with, but things might be worse than I thought in my neck of the woods. Have I mentioned I'm pure breed Irish????? That might explain a bit!! 😩😩😩
