I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

Re: I'm in a nest

Good morning in the nest 🌞

We a really big day yesterday with our adventure Saturday which was much busier than usual and then had people over in the afternoon/evening. It was fun and the LF all had a great day, though it was tiring. I crawled into bed after posting here and was there until about 1:00, when a LF woke me to tell me they were and had been sick.

I do all kinds of fish yucky stuff really pretty well, but this one I struggle with, and 'been sick' was everywhere (like horror movie scene stuff). So for a good few hours last night, I juggled looking after sick fish and cleaning up after sick fish. They're still asleep but looked a lot better after a few hours. We slept on the lounge together covered in towels and buckets with a movie on. Crossing my fingers that was a random one off thing and not some bug that will travel around all of us. We have been very lucky and none of them have been sick for ages, so I shouldn't complain (I'm not really complaining), but I am tired.

@Former-Member - I hope today is a bit better for you. I believe, like @Phoenix_Rising, that it is totally ok to talk about not having a good day and feeling down, if you'd like. I imagine that there would be very few people here who wouldn't understand the feeling of having lots of down days. Pumpkin scones sound yum! I'm not a huge fan of mixing healthy into things that I think shouldn't have healthy in them, but there is something pretty great about good pumpkin scones. As for the book, I big time struggled with TBKTS. I can see why it would have been triggering. I think it caused me a whole lot of frustration thinking about the way trauma treatment is typically approached. I really like that you found another one to try though. Even though it might feel like it sometimes, you don't give up and I think that's pretty great.

Good morning @Phoenix_Rising. It's nice to hear that you had a good day yesterday 🙂 I have started reading the manual. Opening it felt like sitting at the most massive all you can eat buffet, then feeling totally overwhelmed knowing I would want to try everything but not sure where to start or how to fit it all in. I spent lots of Friday afternoon/evening rewinding myself, and thinking about how I want to do this. I think I have my head around it now and am enjoying reading the first part (not the actual skills). I'm looking forward to hearing your copy has arrived, and how you're planning on doing this too.

Hi to @Former-Member 🙂 I think sometimes the most productive days are the ones where I don't do a whole lot of anything typically seen as productive. It can feel frustrating though. I hope yesterday ended up being ok and that today is ok enough too.

Hi @Mazarita, @Teej, @Faith-and-Hope, @TheVorticon and anyone else reading along too 🙂 I hope it's a good day for you all too.

What's everyone up to today?

The morning here is full of springshine and with my typical mum hat on, my first thought was 'its a great day to get the washing on the line'. So I plan on doing that, but also plan on trying to do other great to do in the sunshine things too, (whatever they might be).

Hope there are some good moments for all today

🙂

Re: I'm in a nest

That doesn't sound slack @Former-Member - that sounds awesome! 😄

I am in my pjs still not wanting to get up from my cosy comfy bean bag of wonderfulness to tackle the washing. I really should soon, but I just don't want to.

Enjoy that coffee!
