I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.
In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.
Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.
I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.
Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

Re: I'm in a nest
Good morning in the nest 🙂
Gotta love an early part of 4 o'clock wake up :S Quarter past four seems to about the time my brain decides bed is not an option lately. I lie in bed for a while after waking up, but can't go back to sleep so I get up. I'm trying not to make it a 'thing' and just let it be, because I find the more I stress and think about sleep the trickier it can be, but it is making me tired throughout the day.
I found myself thinking about this house. It's a townhouse which means no yard at all and goodbye to the massive trampoline, bike riding around the house, fruit trees, vegie patch and kids playing under the sprinkler in summer. It's also not walking distance to school. Losing these things would hurt the LF. There are enormous positives to it though, with it being affordable, with working appliances (probably even fully working plumbing and electricity!), no cracks in the walls and floors, no turkey landlord, no missing housing organisation, some stability and security ... It's in an area with lots of parks, open spaces, footpaths and bike tracks etc to make up for the unit/townhouse living. If we were accepted, I don't think I could say no with the positives outweighing the negatives. Making a big decision feels scary.
It's not even a decision at the moment though, with a big IF lingering over the application, so it's very uncool of my brain to be giving this any brain time at all given the rest of the stuff it should be working through. When I got the call yesterday, I was so excited but also had a bit of fear that adding that into it right now, was possibly just a little too much all at once. For this very reason - I was always going to think and think and think some more about it, despite knowing that thinking doesn't make anything change, won't actually fix it, and could be entirely pointless.
That was a ramble and I'm going to do my best to put "house stress" in the "now is not the right time" box today.
@Former-Member - good morning to you. I'm wondering if you noticed that I kept the turkey for the landlord this time? 😛 Going to bed at 10 only to wake up properly at 12 would be so frustrating. How long does it take for you to go back to sleep after you wake?
Glad you had your snuggle essentials packed the other day! I'm not sure how much you've caught of what I have shared about when we left, so apologies in advance if you've already heard this. When the big bang happened, I scrambled and went into total 'think practical' mode. I got all the important documents, some basic clothes and some basic LF stuff and threw it into the car. We went a couple of weeks like this, but it was so hard. Even though I am proud that I managed to think about and remember to do that much, I had to get our comfort stuff back because I realised how (almost) essential it is, especially during big stress times. To get this stuff, I had to ask for and then coordinate a pretty serious mission with some pretty big blue ships as a safety precaution. It's funny looking back now and thinking about how much of an effort and how many resources went in to rescuing teddies, dressing gowns, blankets and books. It made a huge difference to us and if, for whatever reason, I have to up and go in a hurry again, I will spend an extra few minutes if I can, putting snuggle stuff alongside birth certificates, as must-haves. The things that bring comfort, familiarity and security can be just as important as the things that we typically think we 'need' 🙂
Now I have written my essay, it is much-more-reasonable-to-turn-the-shower-on o'clock, and I can start the day. Wrapped in a safe burrito of fluffy blanketness while I do the c-link thing this morning 😉
Hope the day ahead is good for whoever is reading 💗🐉🐉 (⬅ that's Nacho and Taco the axolotl (axolotls?) saying hi too)

Re: I'm in a nest
All the best with CL stuff @CheerBear Haha! Re turkey. You got it right. I didn't sleep when I went to bed at 10. 😮😣😨 I often wake at 4am. So tiring. Exhausted this morning. Haven't finished my coffee. I'm glad you got your important snuggle/familiar "stuff". I always take my own bed things when I go away. Mostly it's super hot here, so no need for blanket or dressing gown. But I try to fit in sheet and pillow. 😀 Gotta get moving. Hope all goes well. 🌹🌸🌼🌻☕
