I'm in a nest

I'm in a nest

I'm making a nest because I'm not feeling very ok and I would like to have a place to retreat to while I ride it out. Everything is chaotic all around and inside me almost all of the time, and I need some time out from it. If I make a nest here I can carry it in my pocket and know it's there for me.

In this nest it's very cosy. There's lots of soft pillows and blankets. Some are made with bright colours, mostly greens, pinks and yellows, and some are made in much deeper shades of purples. The nest is egg shaped so it can be climbed into it but still be a hiding out place. There's lots of fairy lights strung around the nest. They're different shapes and some are warm yellow, some are cool white and some are multi-coloured. They can be adjusted to vary the amount and type of light inside. There's also music which can sometimes be heard throughout the whole nest and sometimes it's playing from the headphones that are always kept on the pile of cushions. There's a lava lamp as well, and squishy glitter balls to squeeze and roll in hands. There are an endless supply of soft creatures to hold or sit with. There's always flowers in the corner and this morning they are gerberas standing tall and proud, on a little wooden table. Next to the vase is a teapot, colourful and quirky, with a collection of teacups and mugs.

Right now I am sitting in a pile of cushions very still with my knees to my chest, my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs. There's no music at the moment so it is very quiet. Only a couple of strings of lights are turned on and they're twinkling yellow balls, so it's very dark but there's still some light inside. I have a soft blanket around me. It's peaceful in here.

I have to sit here until I can work out what to do next. I'm surrounded by people but I don't remember feeling so alone. I feel scared of making any move right now because I don't know what the right move is, and I don't trust any direction. I'm hoping that if I can hold out like this for just a little bit longer I will know what to do.

Right now I don't want to talk but I don't want to feel so alone either, so I'm asking for someone to please come and sit quietly next to me until I can move from my ball or I am made to move from it. I don't know when that will be, but I know I can't stay like this forever.

Re: I'm in a nest

Hi all nesters,

I am trying to limit my Forum time a little bit as I feel I've been spending too much time on here lately. Hence this is a bit of a fly-by.

@CheerBear I hope you and the LF had a nice day. I super hope the muddle of yesterday seems less big today. I am looking forward to the next chapter of our yoga adventure on Monday. I feel almost as nervous as last week - it takes me ages to settle into anything new. Still, I know the nerves will be a bit less each week.

I had a hopelessly unproductive day and now I am feeling frustrated about that. Oh well, this day is nearly done and I will try again tomorrow. Once again I am grateful that I don't live on Venus. It is so good to be able to start over every twenty-four hours.

Don't forget that I am here even when I am not - Schrodinger had a cat, and you my not-friend have a turtle.

I hope everyone in the nest is having an ok weekend; @Former-Member @Pepsimax @Maggie @mudsum

Hi @CheerBear, hugs for your hard day and mournful feelings. I have been feeling a bit that way too lately, mournful for my whole life in some ways. In other ways those feelings sometimes open the way to new and better feelings, perhaps more helpful ways to understand our lives. I hope that's the case for both of us.

Edit: I'm in a muddle too. I just noticed your post about your bad day was from yesterday. Hope you are feeling better today. Hugs anyway.

Re: I'm in a nest

@Phoenix_Rising thank you for stopping past. I'm glad we don't live on Venus too. I am really looking forward to Monday. I'll be starting the other class so I have some nerves too. Duck socks for us and we'll be right 🙂 I hope tomorrow is less frustrating.

@Mazarita thank you for your hugs. I read about your hard day and my heart went out to you. Hope things lifted a little this afternoon 💗

I'm still feeling average after yesterday. I had a great morning and then it went belly up in a way I didn't expect. Today has been long and the LF have been challenging. I'm feeling run down and looking forward to a quite day at home tomorrow. Quiet sounds like a great way to end the week..
Hope everyone sleeps well and is warm and cosy 💛

Re: I'm in a nest

Hi everyone 🙂

I'm feeling a teeny little better tonight, or maybe just a little less dark. Whatever it is, it is good to have a bit of relief from the pretty miserable headspace I have been in for the last couple of days.

I have a busy week ahead (operation get some routine has definitely filled up my week) but am glad because I can see myself struggling if this mood keeps up and I didn't have anything on to push me up and out.

I finished part 6 of my blanket today and took some photos. I really love how this one is coming along, and how right the hook feels in my hand now.

I'm being a bit fancy and have added my own highlights with grey into it, so the bobble stitches, ruffles and the centre pattern are my extra touches this time and I'll carry that through the whole thing.

It's so SO soft and fluffy and thick. I am looking forward to being a burrito in this one 🙂 I'll tag you @Mazarita, @Faith-and-Hope, @Maggie and @Phoenix_Rising to show you.

Hope everyone has had a good Sunday

💗

The crochet is looking so lovely, @CheerBear, especially with your personal touches and new colour scheme! Glad to hear you are feeling less dark and miserable than you have the past couple of days, and have things to do this week to keep you up and moving.

I have things on too this week, which will help with my current slump. Did nothing today but have finally, at this late hour, started the colouring process on my hair that I planned to get to all day. Sitting here in my special hair colouring dressing gown, wet coloured hair piled on my head. Soon to be in the shower and a new woman. 🙂

Hugs to you!

Re: I'm in a nest

Thanks @Mazarita 🙂

Oooh I LOVE colouring hair! Is it a totally new colour or a touch up one?

I've been thinking about you and your blues and feeling a lot for you. It's great to hear you are doing something fun and nice for you at the moment. I hope your things on this week help lift things for you.

Enjoy your new hair 🙂

Re: I'm in a nest

@CheerBear your blanket looks AMAZING. Yep, being a burrito in that blanket will be super snuggly! I'm super glad that operation get-some-routine is going well. I am still working on that project. I really noticed how good I felt last Wednesday when I had to get myself into the city for my change-the-world thing. This coming week is all pretty much about psyching myself up to see therapist-take-eleven on Wednesday. I am really anxious about it. I so badly WANT her to be a good match...but I'm quite skeptical after speaking with her on the phone. I can very much feel myself giving up hope of finding anyone who I can click with. I miss (K) counsellor SO much. If only ONLY I could find someone that I could work that well with.

@Mazarita I hope your hair looks good. I am too scared to try the home dying gig. Are you going for a radical change? I get my hair dyed the same colour as my natural colour just to conceal the grey. I don't do change.
