sad&stuck

sad&stuck

Major depression & social anxiety have been ruling my life and I feel so stuck. Lack of motivation, emotional overeating, loneliness..(my partner works nights and sleeps during the day, i have no friends & my family are either away or busy and I feel like I don't want to bother them) feelings of being worthless and hopeless, racing thoughts... I'm tired. And sad. No medication is helping and I have a support team around me (psychologist, psychiatrist, gp, mental health support worker) but I can't help but think why bother. Ive been holding on for so long and it doesn't seem to be getting better. I feel like there's only so much distracting I can do. Sorry, you probably don't want to read my depressing s*&t but thanks if you do.

Re: sad&stuck

Today was hard. I completely fell apart at my gp appointment and sat and cried there for 2 hours after the appointment. I felt physically unable to move and just so defeated. Eventually they rang someone to come pick me up. The sadness I'm feeling is completely overwhelming me and I'm struggling to find the strength to keep going, hour by hour.

Re: sad&stuck

Not going well
The other day had a bad dissociative/catatonic episode where I was suddenly unable to move or communicate with my support worker and after an hour and half they had to call an ambulance. I was stuck like that for about 5/6 hrs until the medication they gave me kicked in and I sat up and burst into tears. Home again now. I'm tired of the emotional roller coaster 😓
It felt like my brain had completely given up on life and I wasn't able to eat or drink. I'm trying to take it easy but I'm so scared it's going to happen again.

Re: sad&stuck

@STORMGRL101 I have been like that before but it was a long time ago and only lasted a couple of hours. I was taken to hospital and after around 5 hours of waiting was sent home - with no money, no transport and no way of knowing how I was going to get home other than walking (it would have taken me a couple of hours - and it was in the middle of the night - so really safe). An orderly from the hospital offered to take me home and I accepted as I was too scared and confused about what to do myself. It has not happened to that same extent again - there have been shorter periods but I am lucky that I have been in a safe environment - either at home or in a therapy session.

I really do understand how you are feeling and that you are scared that it will happen again - so was I. I cannot say one way or another that it will or will not but I can let you know I get it and I hear you.

Re: sad&stuck

Sorry that happened to you @STORMGRL101, anybody would be frightened that might come again, or like my dissociative episodes (not so bad) - I get frightened I l'll get stuck there, might not be able to come back. Chances are we will. So glad there was someone around and something they could give you to stop it (can they give you that in ablet form?). Do you get a warning before it comes on? Has this happened before? I get a floating feeling as a warning so that's when I ground myself with strong smells, touch, project etc Its exhausting so get lots of rest. Eat lots of vegies. Big hug 🌷🌿

Oh @Zoe7 I'm glad that orderly was able to help you get home.. that's so scary. Hope you're doing ok ❣️

@Former-Member This is the first time this has happened so severely. On Monday it happened at the drs but I was able to snap out of it when they rang my dad to come. This time I couldn't and I could only communicate with the paramedics and hospital people by blinking my eyes. I don't know if they can prescribe something to help when that occurs, something I'll ask about tomorrow when I have contact with my care coordinator.also I should ask if it get that bad again how should I let someone know how to help me because I had no warning signs.

Re: sad&stuck

It is a real shock to the system when it happens @STORMGRL101 - and really scary. I could hear people talking but couldn't understand them - it was just noise - and definitely couldn't respond. It has not happened again to that extent but I always have it in the back of my mind when I am extremely triggered or low. There have been alot of times that I have dissociated but not to the extent of being catatonic again for that length of time.

Sending you lots of hugs @STORMGRL101

Learn everything you can @STORMGRL101, Ask drs to be sure to rule out any physical causes. I am so proud of you for keeping yourself safe and being sensible. Just do the best you can, thats all you can do 🙂
