sad&stuck

sad&stuck

Major depression & social anxiety have been ruling my life and I feel so stuck. Lack of motivation, emotional overeating, loneliness..(my partner works nights and sleeps during the day, i have no friends & my family are either away or busy and I feel like I don't want to bother them) feelings of being worthless and hopeless, racing thoughts... I'm tired. And sad. No medication is helping and I have a support team around me (psychologist, psychiatrist, gp, mental health support worker) but I can't help but think why bother. Ive been holding on for so long and it doesn't seem to be getting better. I feel like there's only so much distracting I can do. Sorry, you probably don't want to read my depressing s*&t but thanks if you do.

Hi @STORMGRL101,

Sorry to hear your feeling sad about the hospital report. Did they at least give you information about the diagnosis? Or did they suggest different support options, if you want them?

Re: sad&stuck

Hang in there. There is hope. I had depression for many years. Depression is connected to Helplessness which what you've written shows this. Helplessness is also related to our fears. I had lots. It takes away our strength and energy because our attempts to fix it according to our truth s don't work.very well. Most of those truths were learned as children and worked for us as children but don't necessarily work in the real world. We spend a lot of time in loop thinking and most of that loop thinking has negative connotations. In some ways we literally get what we keep negatively thinking. That's the power of words. Instead of the negative self talk it takes a discision to love self and others. A discision to commit to using more affirming language of self that we believe and use regularly. It takes awhile after all the negative program you have been inputting started at a very early age. It takes turning on your watcher to notice that self talk you have been doing that is often almost unconscious. By writting or picking affirmations that take a positive spin on the negative's you regularly use and replace the affirmation with the old script everytime you catch yourself about to use the old script. In fact repeat the affirmation a few times to help counteract some of that past input. There are other tools as well. like Gratitude Journals Affirmations surrounded by doodling. Explore, be creative muster your strength to be active and mindful at the same time, Meditate using affirmations Tjos os pm;u a start/ commit to learning and growing yourself to wards ways you really want to be. I could go on for pages but the reality is unless your ready to hear this it will go unheard. Hope you've reached that place where you really want change for it is then most start to make change because they get it is only self that can make a diference to you jour being..

@STORMGRL101, Sorry you had to find out your diagnosis (DX) label that way - thats simply not good enough. Like we're not part of the equation, don't matter. Your attending psychiatrist or registrar should have in formed you but you could talk to the Senior nurse about it - they're better communicaters anyway I found. Some people are ashamed of labels like DPD or BPD... But try see labels as just tools the professionals need to facilitate treatment pathways and justify funding categories. Often we have overlapping symptoms but the psychiatrist has the final say. You could ask for a second opinion.

There's a couple of people here on the forums who can help you with this, @Former-Member comes to mind.

I couldn't find a facts sheet on the forums but there's some good threads about it:

Re: sad&stuck

Some good tips there @ReflecticeFrank, I would think STORMGRL101 is being bombarded with it all while in hospital & halfway house but every little bit helps to reinforce I guess 🙂
Welcome to the forums 👍 🙂

As I'm new. I wasn't aware of the full thread. Can see how I might overwhelm. Thanks for feedback.
Believe in change for the best happens when we come from our own compassion.

Thanks for the hugs and messages 💞
Although I can't really respond properly right now, I have read all your posts. 💜
I am just glad I'm here at the "break" place and am able to communicate with the nurses and staff about how I'm feeling even though usually it's just a letter but I feel supported.
