Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Really stunning @OhanaSystem lovely work! the detail work is just lovely.

Heh, I just realised, that once again, I have none of the dreamcatchers I made, all either made for sale or as gifts. Peculiar isn't it. Seeing yours made me think of where I might have one to share an image of, and, well, I don't.

ah, life is so funny.

Yours is so pretty with the beads in that pattern too.

Re: Craft Corner

Your image just cleared for me @outlander that is lovely! You are crafty, Outlander!

Very pretty with that lace and ribbons as a feature too. Thank you for sharing.

As you're familiar with holding the ring, the yarn and keeping the work tight as you go, I'd suggest that crochet would be working with those skills you already have, Outlander, just a thought.

Hehe you know what I and @CheerBear are really up to though, don't you.... chuckles evilly .. thinks about taking over the world with crochet ....

Re: Craft Corner

omg how come i cant see your pics then @Former-Member im keeping watch though!

glad you like them, this was my first one ive ever tried. i actually got the packet from the reject shop so had all the materials however the instructions were- tie the thin strip around the metal hoop then attach the ribbons lol. not much to go on at all. eventually found a groove on hot to get the ribbon around the hoot to work as it kept getting tangled!

hehe is that like a hard nudge to tell me to start crocheting?

Noooo I am still waiting on the pics to clear here!

Haha - I have a feeling you may get a similar feeling to me when I hear people even slightly interested in crochet @Former-Member! 😆

Re: Craft Corner

My goodness, this thread has grown quickly since I posted!

@Bunniekins I looked up how to finger knit - I'll definitely have to give it a go now! I'd probably be a bit more co-ordinated with my fingers, rather than knitting needles

Re: Craft Corner

@WideWhale320 Yes that is what I found with the coordination. Did you see SunShower's finger knitting it was awesome!!!!

Re: Craft Corner

I think maybe @CheerBear ... I think I respond to the word 'crochet' faster than I respond to my own name! In the store the other day it was so funny, I could hear questions about sewing and yarns so clearly yet everything else was muted. The girls in there are so nice, they want me to come in more often so I can help them with the customer questions. We share teaching tricks and tips and it brightens up their day a bit I think.
