Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Thank you for your very much appreciated kindness @Shaz51 @CheerBear @Bunniekins

(I love that you love the intestines!) (Still waiting on CB's & Shaz's images)

I can usually cover things up really well, most people don't even know I have 'issues' but it's Anniversary Reaction season for me, so many traumas piled on top of each other in a similar time frame. The e-event thing was ujust pushed me over the edge.

O, just crashed but thanks to autosaved drafts I'm mostly okay. whew.

Oh, wow, @CheerBear you did socks! proper socks - 4 of them! they are sooo sooo cute! Oh, i'll bet they just love them to bits! Thank you for sharing. Love the colours, very nice indeed. You clever woman you! Post this now so you can do what you have to do.

Re: Craft Corner

Oh wow @Former-Member. As always, your work is awesome! So beautiful ☺

Thanks @outlander 😊

The first big difference (and never a silly question!) I think, is that knitting uses two needles

And crochet uses one hook

I don't know much about knitting at all. I have tried and made something very wonky, that unravelled and was terrible. I can't work out how stitches are made, or what the difference between stitches are! I do know that you can do so much with crochet though (and that it is incredibly fun 😁).

If you ever want to give any of them a go, I have a feeling you'll be met with a whole lot of encouragement and cheering on here, and that there will be someone who can help with either/any of them! (Gentle hint and nudge haha!)

Re: Craft Corner

Oh the pics of your finished works have given me smiles @CheerBear , @Former-Member
I’ve been sitting with Mum again today but had a few interruptions and didn’t get as much knitting done.

Re: Craft Corner

Thanks @Former-Member! They were fun to make and worked up quickly ☺ I now have six more to make (apparently) after some littler ones have asked for chunky thick winter socks.

And thanks @Catcakes. Hope sitting with your mum has been ok enough. Chatting with you the other day inspired me to get out that baby blanket and really get moving with it 😊

@outlander they're quite similar looking but hooks are shorter and have a hooked end. Finger knitting could be a fun one to try and great if you're looking for something to do with your sisters maybe one day. @Bunniekins posted a really helpful video a few pages back. No pressure though and totally understand not being up for them.

Ooops meant to also add that I love your puzzle @Shaz51! So cute and looks like heaps of fun to do. Ours has animals dressed up as movie and music stars - it's pretty funny!
