Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Thanks @CheerBear for being so open and willing to share of ur experience to help others - in this case, me! It rly means a lot. Those of us that are new to this and still trying to work our way thru it and get our head around it can rly benefit from what so many others hav alrdy bn thru.

Im still trying to work thru the 'self care' side of things, what works for me, but knitting, especially in the company of my mum is therapeutic. Mum has had her own significant struggles with MI so she is one of those people who rly gets it bcoz she has been there. She has bn a wonderful support to me, tho it has to be moderated bcoz she also has some physical health issues so i dont want to lean on her too heavily. But it is a blessing when we get together.

Im hoping that when i find some things to make for my dog for food dispensing that that will b therapeutic as well.

Thanks re the crocheting! Is it hard? Does it take long to learn? Are there many things that u need to buy for it (money is tight). I have also thought of starting beading again. I did it many years ago and still hav much of the tools, and a lot of the beads and things needed to do it so it shldnt cost me too much, just that i cant remember anything about what to do so wld need to take a class or something. But that cld be very therapeutic too i think becoz u rly hav to concentrate. Havnt bn able to find anywher near me that does classe unfortunatrly - probably cldnt afford it neway! Might look online for some tutorials or something. Anyway, thanks for the 'chat'. Look forward to hearing from u on the other thread too. ☺

@salzie Love your artwork

@CheerBear This thread is over 2 years old. WTG!

Today I used some old hat ribbon leftover from my nan to decorate a sunhat and sewed 2 knitted poppies onto a lovely battered purple felt hat I found this weekend at the opshop.

Re: Craft Corner

Hey @outlander. I don't know if crafting gives me a headache but I know when my eyes are tired or I need new glasses I can get a headache.

What are you making and are these headaches (if you're having them) new for you?
