Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Former-Member I'm not familiar with the site you did your test on I don't think. That wasn't the humanmetrics I don't think because the way it's presented isn't a format I have seen.

as @CheerBear pointed out.. there is no "right" or "wrong" it's just an insight into your own personality. Perhaps you might like to do it on the humanmetrics site, I know it's reliable because the questions are pretty similar to the one I was given many many years ago by a professor from UWA for employment assessment.

That might be a little clearer with the result explanations. I agree.. that 100% result stood out very starkly to me and I kind of raised an eyebrow at that one. not saying it isn't accurate but it is something that did make me go hmmmm?

The link to the humanmetrics site is on the front page... or maybe you did it there and I just have never seen that format of results before. But just a suggestion anyhow.

I think Mazarita linked it in earlier today too so it can't be far back from these current posts.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

lol @CheerBear and @Phoenix_Rising well guess that sets the scene for the next episode.. I was wondering at the direction I could take.. that is if you want another one? @Former-Member asked about it on another thread and was going to tell her I wasn't really sure.. not I think I've got too much running through my head so I better start planning for it before it gets out of control. I try to keep it 2 pages maximum, the last one was almost 3 which I thought might be a bit much but i couldnt squash it down once I'd written it.

I'm not sure how the heck to explain those quadruplets!! Oh hang on I just had an idea! 😛

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Spookytookims I don't remember the site, it wasn't from here. I think I will try the one from here tomorrow (it might make more sense) I just popped on to say good night to everyone and to wish all peaceful sleep 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Former-Member I wonder if you could do me a huge favour please? This is your "brain" typing... you said you were an INFJ.. could you just have a quick look at it and tell me anything that you think might be strongly relevant to you and anything you think is definitely not you.

I'm just trying to put together a plan for the next episode and would like you to have a little part since you have your ever so cute house now and you are with us. To do that I just need to know a few of your traits.

Thanks in advance

Spooky

Edit: I just realised you are the same as @Former-Member she is an INFJ too.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Hi @Spookytookims @CheerBear @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member. Is it too late to jump on board Turtle Island?

I shall introduce myself by type as per the Myer Briggs system:

Personality type: “The Defender” (ISFJ-T)
Individual traits: Introverted – 90%, Observant – 70%, Feeling – 55%, Judging – 79%, Turbulent – 64%.
Role: Sentinel
Strategy: Constant Improvement

Introverted 90% - Introverted individuals prefer solitary activities and get exhausted by social interaction. They tend to be quite sensitive to external stimulation (e.g. sound, sight or smell) in general.

Observant 70% - Observant individuals are highly practical, pragmatic and down-to-earth. They tend to have strong habits and focus on what is happening or has already happened.

Feeling 55% - Feeling individuals are sensitive and emotionally expressive. They are more empathic and less competitive than Thinking types, and focus on social harmony and cooperation.

Judging 79% - Judging individuals are decisive, thorough and highly organized. They value clarity, predictability and closure, preferring structure and planning to spontaneity.

Turbulent 64% - Turbulent individuals are self-conscious and sensitive to stress. They are likely to experience a wide range of emotions and to be success-driven, perfectionistic and eager to improve.

Strengths of this personality type include: Supportive, Reliable, Patient, Imaginative, Observant, Enthusiastic, Loyal, Hard Working, Good Practical Skills.

Weaknesses of this personality type include: Humble, Shy, Take things too Personally, Repress their Feelings, Overload Themselves, Reluctant to Change, Too Altruistic.

Summary - Few personality types are as practical and dedicated as ISFJs. Known for their reliability and altruism, ISFJs are good at creating and maintaining a secure and stable environment for themselves and their loved ones. ISFJs’ dedication is invaluable in many areas, including their own personal growth. Yet ISFJs can be easily tripped up in areas where their kindness and practical approach are more of a liability than an asset. ISFJs need to put in a conscious effort to develop their weaker traits and additional skills.

So that pretty much sums me up I guess. Yes, it is a very accurate assessment of me, especially the strengths and weaknesses that it lists.

Sherry xx

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Hi @Former-Member! It's never too late to jump on board! I see you're another introverted 'type' - you're in great company here! So far I think we have only one extroverted island person. Welcome to Turtle Island 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I'm going to allow for spending some time on Turtle Island for fun into my day/evening today. We've got a few visitors and residents now and I'd love to find another way to bring us all together, maybe visually or to accompany the an episode (which @Spookytookims I for sure am interested in if you want to write!). Up for any suggestions (I think lisajane is now living in the suggestion box but I'm hoping she won't mind if we post notes there stil)!

Hope everyone has a nice day 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I've done @Mazarita's test @Spookytookims and it came out INFJ but I think the percentages are better?

INFJ

  • You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (88%)
  • You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (16%)
  • You have slight preference of Feeling over Thinking (6%)
  • You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (9%)
