Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

****************

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

@Mazarita Sorry that last tag was not for you. Somehow my ipad chose you instead of Niqueeta... I've fixed it but you'll be wondering why I tagged you. Soz! Oops! I always do that stuff if I'm not on a proper keyboard!

Hi @Spookytookims@CheerBear@Former-Member@Former-Member@Mazarita@Appleblossom

Well, that all took a while to catch up on! I snuggle in my shell for five minutes and suddenly the island is flooded with INFPs and people are declaring me missing in action. I have overcome my Forum Land addiction. That means I have no felt need to be here every day. I had a peaceful weekend. The weather in my part of Sydney was glorious and I have been enjoying simply being. Today I am struggling a bit, but that's ok, it will pass.

@Spookytookims my curfew is the time I have to LEAVE Forum Land if I am hanging out here. It isn't a rule that I have to appear here BEFORE curfew. {Face palm}.

Lol I know @Phoenix_Rising And I knew the ambiguity in it was going to elicit that response from you too!! But I left it anyway!

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Do we need a new emoticon pic with a face palm?

Somehow I was less worried about you @Phoenix_Rising Glad all is good.

I tend to minimise not catastrophise but that doesnt mean I dont care.

Humpf Humpf

Yes I did ride a motor bike and I have had a couple of vodkas in my life, but that brain pic is dreadful! Total misrepresentation of me @Spookytookims Might be alright if I was a young bloke in his 20s but I am an old lady now.

Humpf

I want @Mazarita's one.

Not fair!\

Humpf

There is heaps more to me than that.

I'm gunna do the test again!

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Appleblossom have you tried this version of the test:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

p.s. mine was totally different when I did it on 'Psych Central' website.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Ha ha @Mazarita I might try it later.

I agree there might be a skewing of Introverts on the Sane website for some .. odd reason.

I just came up INFP on 16 personalities .. which is a better fit for the current me.

I take it all with a grain of salt .. a tool to understanding personality .. but no pressure to stay in any box.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Appleblossom yes as I mentioned to you.. I didn't think that brain seemed quite right for you.. It is a tool for understanding personalities.. that is how Jung developed his ideas... there are many things that make up a person and their outlook, but if we can understand some core dynamics it can definitely help.

and yes!! we need a face palm emoticon 😄 that's a definite!

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Oooh are there more of us now @Mazarita and @Appleblossom?! I was wondering which 'type' might appear here in the largest numbers and am not too surprised that so far it looks to be INFPs.

@Spookytookims - I've been thinking a bit about your question from earlier today. I need to have a keyboard and quiet house which it is now not but I haven't forgotten. How are you going oday?
