Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Good morning Island Adventurers and visitors 🌞

Super excited to see we have an INFP duo and that my fellow INFP is you @Mazarita ! I can see your INFPness and love our 'type' 🙂

@Spookytookims - I'll have a think about your question re the aspie-ness this morning. Loved seeing cheerbear grylls on the rainbow too thank you 😊 Will link the episode today when I'm home from appt. More introverted types joining here - no surprises but interesting.

Hi @Appleblossom - nice to see you here 🙂

@Former-Member - pinterest has heaps of MBTI pics and graphics that are informative and heaps that sre fun and silly too. I have a huge board of them and if you'd like me to share some stuff about your 'type' sometime just let me know. Any excuse to play on pinterest really 😉

I'm watching this beautiful sunrise from the waterfront on my hammock this morning. Lovely way to start the day. Hope you all have a nice day 😊

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Good morning @CheerBear, my sister INFP. Yes, I relate to the type description too.

Waiting on your image to be moderated, but your sunrise sounds wonderful. Meanwhile, I'm still up from the night before.

I've just been reading the first instalment of Turtle Island. I love how we have these group creative projects happening. I'm thinking of this one (fantastic) and of @Former-Member's forum community drawing project too (love). And then the occasional writing pieces that have been popping up over a long time in the Writing as a Form of Therapy thread. There are other threads as well.

I find it interesting, the speculation that the majority of people on the forum might be introverts. Hope the day treats everyone here well.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Hope you get some sleep in @Mazarita. I too love group creative projects. There's so much connection between people that can and is happening through these spaces. I really enjoy thinking about the way these things (like turtle island and lil-caterpillar's garden and even the octagonal room) have evolved and what they can bring to different people.

It would be interesting to read some studies about the relationship between introverted traits and mental illness. I'm sure there's stuff out there (adding it to my never ending list of things to find out). It's also really interesting to consider how much MI influences results on personality typing in tests. I've had the INFP result consistently for years but the score for each trait has varied. I think I read that extrovert/introvert has changed for you and think that Spooky has had varied results of I/E trait.

Morning to you @Former-Member 🙂 hope today brings some better moments for you

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

That's ok found them @Spookytookims . I'm an infj though it was pretty close to the middle for everythingn except I lol still can't find the old one I did but pretty sure I was that back then too and I tried two different versions last night and got same. For some reason I don't like the idea that I can be that predictable that a computer can give me my personality/traits lol. But it's also pretty accurate in many ways.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Former-Member This is the Tutle I sland Thread, that used to be All Things Personality. If you go to the first page, front post explains it and how it morphed into Tutle Island. The episodes are based on our types. Up to now there has been four of us. Lately Lisajane has flown in and now MAzarita. and yourself.

Cheerbear is our original INFP (which is you too). She's my favourite char but now I'm a bit worried you've all turned into triplets!! No doubt Cheerbear will be very happy not sure how PHoenix and I are going to cope though! It's a fun thing so join in. All episodes are based on the characters and the last two are more thread events driven with a story crafted around that.

All visitors are welcome to join the adventurers and encouraged to use the suggestion box that lil-caterpillar is making because the last one got turned into a house for Lisajane.

🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

LMAO!!!! @CheerBear Grylls in the hammock at sunset!! Omg Tooooo funny!!! Love it!!

@Former-Member Rest easy little bird. The MBTI was developed based on real people. Carl Jung personality types, then Myers Briggs adapted. Long before computers! I'm sure Carl Jung would love that it has been brought to this magical world of electronica, especially considering he was into alchemy and all sorts of alternate ways to investigate the psyche and mind. Which is what caused him to break with his mentor, Freud. Freud disowned him when he deviated.

so long long before computers. 😄

BTW Carl Jung himself said he was INTP but also hinted he may have also identified as INFJ at times.
