Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

****************

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Spookytookims, thanks. Really it's pretty simple and small scale. How I came to be commissioned was like this... The director makes her living or some part of it from tendering for film projects. Just because she's a passionate film-maker, she also makes little pieces like the ones I do on the side. So it's through this specialised, small-scale level of production that we know each other. I'm just stoked that she's liked what I've done enough to invite me to participate in this small way.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Spookytookims, have you been doing much writing offline? I seem to remember one of our early conversations you were saying you were writing maybe even a book?

No that's sitting on the 18 or 19 chapter.. not got back to it yet. I have the ending but can't yet get from where it is to that end. It's part of my therapy, I've found I can write it once my recovery processes pass that part of the story and as yet obviously I'm still in that end bit. @Mazarita So yes you are right I am writing my story as a book form.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Spookytookims, that makes sense to me about needing to get through phases in your recovery before you can write them. It's a really impressive amount of writing you have done on it so far.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

It would make a great movie.. the antagonist is just horrible... probably too horrible... for a movie I guess he'd have to be given some likeable traits... well that could work it could come out with interactions with peripheral characters @Mazarita

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

it's come in spurts Maz.. it sits for a long time then I think ok I need to do it.. then I get as far as I can and stop... repeat .. repeat.. and at first it just used to be start overs @Mazarita so it's great it has got this far actually. It's pretty clinical reading though because a lot of it is really hard to write because it's horrible stuff. I think some of it is unbelievable.. people reading it would think it was made up or exaggerated.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Spookytookims, likeable qualities are good for an antagonist in a film. Most people have likeable qualities, I think. But then I would say that, as an INFP. One of things I read just before was that we view the world with rose coloured glasses.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I used to think that.. until I met one that didn't. @Mazarita

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

oh when and if you get a chance.. you must read the Turtle Island episodes @Mazarita the rose coloured glasses thing....... That's exactly what @CheerBear does.. that's for sure... I have to keep pulling her back to reality :P. She hasn't put the last one linked to the front yet.. but the rest are linked on the front post. I like her char the best cos it makes me laugh so much at the stuff she wants to do. So I'm not sure how we'd cope with two of you LOL!
