The Highlight of Your Day thread

The Highlight of Your Day thread

I thought it might be nice to have a place to share the highlight of your day (even if it's found in a fleeting moment) 🙂

For me today, the highlight of my day was finishing the most annoying round of crochet in a blanket I have been working on for months. This round has taken me so long and I've found it so frustrating that I didn't think I would ever finish the project. Stitch by (incredibly frustrating) stitch it came together. Super excited to get to change colours and start the next round now!

Looking forward to hearing anyone else's highlights 🙂

@CheerBear Really? I can't believe there's another grownup out there who does that!!!! Oh now I super want to go shopping with you!!!!!!!

@Spookytookims yes I did think of that...but don't those warnings tend to say something like "deliberate inhalation may cause serious injury or death." I'm not sure that glue sniffing counts as a "therapeutic use."

Ooooh I just remembered another one. I bought a "congratulations on the birth of your son" card once for someone with a new baby. The card was one of those 3D type ones where the picture is raised from the rest of the card on double sided tape. And, on the back of the card, which, remember, is to congratulate someone on the birth of their new baby, it said "not suitable for children under 3." That had me laughing in the aisle.

@CheerBear, @Phoenix_Rising: I omce bought an electric steam mop and in the instructions, it stated DO NOT USE IN A FILLED SWIMMING POOL. I mean... what the? I also thought it was funny that KFC does gift vouchers in $20, $50 and $100 increments. I mean giving cholesterol as a present? Kinda weird don't you think?

@Queenie ROFL. Phew I'm glad they gave you that warning. I mean, who WOULDN'T want to steam clean the bottom of their full swimming pool with an electric steam mop! And yes, $100 would buy a LOT of KFC!!!!

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

The thought of $50 and $100 of KFC as a gift is hilarious 😂 I had no idea you could get vouchers for KFC @Queenie

The only label story I can think of that was kind of funny is when I had to fish out a tag from a very little person's mouth that came off a giant toy. Guess what the label said? "Warning: Choking hazard" . It'd kind of funny now

@Phoenix_Rising@CheerBear@Queenie it is becoming incresingly obvious I need to pay more attention to this fine print stuff. That's the types of things I just burst out laughing at. I do know I've seen things in instruction manuals (yes PR I do read them occasionally), that have just made me bust out laughing. I need to make more note of this stuff for sure.

I like visiting the HOYD thread 🙂

Today's highlight has not only been that for the first time in a week I feel like I am in control of what is happening, or that I worked out some big stuff so now I have another helping person in my corner and on my side, but that I was scrolling through my phone and remembered the adventure I had yesterday at the supermarket that I was really excited about sharing, particularly with @Phoenix_Rising and @Queenie.

So I can confirm that milk does in fact contain milk.

Just as salmon, mackerel and tuna contain fish. And nuts contain nuts.

However, I noticed something unusual with a packet of nuts.

I have never heard of an "Other Tree". I still can't find the answer to what one of these is. Slightly puzzled but not concerned, I moved on to the sauce aisle.

Where I found that, although mackerel, salmon and tuna contain fish...

Fish sauce does not 😮 ! And I looked across and noticed that "Tuna Bake" does not either. It doesn't even contain tuna at all. Then I started feeling a little more concerned that something strange is happening with our food. And this happened.

Vegetables "sneaking" in to tinned spaghetti. So now I don't think I will ever trust food again.

I had a great time at the supermarket yesterday and strongly encourage anyone who is feeling not so great about food shopping (which really, does anyone like doing?), to look at the labels and not care if people look at you funny when you are picking up and putting down lots of things and laughing a lot.

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

@CheerBear ROFL so very very very VERY much.

That is very very very VERY funny. I just LOVE that on the one hand you are working hard to convince the catt team that you are perfectly sane...and on the other hand you are running around the aisles of the supermarket laughing and taking photos of food labels. You know, if someone from the catt team sees you doing that, do NOT tell them that you were inspired by the tiny turtle in your pocket. I refuse to be held responsible for this clearly atypical behaviour.

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

Okay so it's been a pretty messy day for me. But I still reckon I can find a highlight in there somewhere. The first thing that comes to mind is odd, but I'll write it anyway. On the way back from the doctors I found myself walking unusually fast up a hill (read: small incline). What is unusually fast for me is pretty much normal pace for anyone else. But it indicates to me that I may be getting slightly fitter physically. That, or I was moving on nervous energy, which is also quite a strong possibility. Either way, I felt good walking relatively quickly up a little hill today. (Note: no food labels were harmed in this story.)
