Recognition for the work that carers do

Recognition for the work that carers do

Hello people in Carers Forum Land. I've never ventured over here from the lived experience forum and I'm feeling all shy. However, this article landed in my inbox this morning and I thought it would be of interest over here. I don't actually have any family or friends myself, but I know that carers do an amazing job in supporting those that they love. If anyone here does happen to feel like adopting someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm open to it. I mean, what could be more fun than having someone (or another someone) with BPD in your life! Here's the link to the article: http://theconversation.com/heres-how-much-it-would-cost-the-government-to-pay-everyone-who-takes-care-of-family-with-mental-illness-74760?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274+CID_3e0041eadb6d09286518efab7811c5a4&utm_source=campaign_monitor&utm_term=Heres%20how%20much%20it%20would%20cost%20the%20government%20to%20pay%20everyone%20who%20takes%20care%20of%20family%20with%20mental%20illness

Missed you last night @Phoenix_Rising are you still doing it tough? Did you manage to get the exam papers done or was it too much for you?

Re: Recognition for the work that carers do

@Former-Member, Thank you for checking in. I finished marking the assignments and was super happy about it. Then I came onto the forum to share my happy news and saw NikNik's post about CherryBomb leaving. My world went from happy to chaos in one minute and I've been super struggling since. However, Lunar and RockPool super helped me with the big feelings, and then CherryBomb and I had a long phone conversation on Friday afternoon, which also super helped. That was our goodbye time - FF was simply not going to work for me at all. I am just oh-so-relieved that I finished the marking before this latest storm hit because now my brain has melted into a puddle again. Still, today was a tiny bit better than yesterday and I have hopes that tomorrow will be a tiny bit better than today. I hope you and Mr Darcy are having a nice weekend.

@Phoenix_Rising so pleased to hear you are happy with how the assignments went, I am hoping for you this will lead to some more work for you. Will you get any feedback on if they are happy with the job you did?
Glad you are feeling a wee bit better today,
Take care, will be in touch.
Darcy

Hi @Phoenix_Rising
Quick check in, thinking of you today. A good scratch under the chin for those felines of yours too.

Hey @Phoenix_Rising

Popping by to say hello, suspecting things are still a bit rough out at sea.

How are the fur babies? Do they enjoy your violin playing?

Re: Recognition for the work that carers do

Hi @Former-Member,

Yep, I have been super struggling for quite a while now. HOWEVER, finally today I got a bit of a win, which I shared on a thread titled "I am AWESOME". Hopefully the big feelings will start to settle a little bit now.

My cats are well. They don't seem to mind my violin playing at all. I do wonder sometimes how it will go if/when I am ready to get another dog as I know some dogs love to "sing" along with violin playing. I assume that if I got a puppy, he would become indifferent to it quite quickly. I'm not sure that I will ever be ready to get another dog though. It is five years since my perfect M went to live across the Rainbow Bridge and I am still far too much in love with him to consider another dog. It is funny, I have always been a dog person and would never have imagined I could go this long without a dog in the home. However, my heart still totally belongs to M and I think I may have shifted to being a cat person without really trying.

I hope you and Mr Darcy had a nice long weekend. Did you do anything fun?
