Recognition for the work that carers do

Recognition for the work that carers do

Hello people in Carers Forum Land. I've never ventured over here from the lived experience forum and I'm feeling all shy. However, this article landed in my inbox this morning and I thought it would be of interest over here. I don't actually have any family or friends myself, but I know that carers do an amazing job in supporting those that they love. If anyone here does happen to feel like adopting someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm open to it. I mean, what could be more fun than having someone (or another someone) with BPD in your life! Here's the link to the article: http://theconversation.com/heres-how-much-it-would-cost-the-government-to-pay-everyone-who-takes-care-of-family-with-mental-illness-74760?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274+CID_3e0041eadb6d09286518efab7811c5a4&utm_source=campaign_monitor&utm_term=Heres%20how%20much%20it%20would%20cost%20the%20government%20to%20pay%20everyone%20who%20takes%20care%20of%20family%20with%20mental%20illness

@Phoenix_Rising

I too very much like the concept of the wise mind and it is particularly relevant for me with the complaint that I have in at present. Somewhat timely, this weekend I listened to someone speak about grace and truth and this very much ties in with the wise mind concept. If one shows too much grace you let people off with bad behaviour, but if one goes by the absolute letter of the law, you do not allow for human weakness and imperfections. I know that I want to be treated with kindness and compassion when I don't quite get things right. How this translates in practice for my complaint, if indeed I am thought to have a case worthy, remains to be seen but I am certainly giving much thought to it as it is quite possible that concilliation could be the next step (unless the HCC dismisses my complaint or feels an investigation is warranted).

Hi @Former-Member,

Thank you for checking in. I am ultra struggling at the moment. I so very very badly need to talk it out, but alas, I have been relegated to my pause button until NikNik gets home. I'm so scared that even then the necessary talking won't happen. This is all so so so SO hard.

I'm going to try superly duperly hard to make it to FF tomorrow night. I super want to.

How are you and Mr Darcy going at the moment?

Limbo land can be a very uncomfortable place to be in. It can be difficult when things are not resolved quickly or easily and in a manner that we perceive would have caused the least distress to us, when there are external factors that are beyond our control ...

FF has been difficult for me as the footy is not on to distract Mr D and he has not been going well. Pain meds and ongoing reductions of them have resulted in high anxiety and him not travelling well.

We press on.

Is there anything with your DBT or mindfulness that can help you with conflict resolution @Phoenix_Rising

In response to: Re: Recognition for the work that carers do

Re: Recognition for the work that carers do

@Former-Member No. My DBT skills are helping me to survive until NikNik gets home. The conflict resolution is only going to be helped by talking it through.
