Recognition for the work that carers do

Recognition for the work that carers do

Hello people in Carers Forum Land. I've never ventured over here from the lived experience forum and I'm feeling all shy. However, this article landed in my inbox this morning and I thought it would be of interest over here. I don't actually have any family or friends myself, but I know that carers do an amazing job in supporting those that they love. If anyone here does happen to feel like adopting someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm open to it. I mean, what could be more fun than having someone (or another someone) with BPD in your life! Here's the link to the article: http://theconversation.com/heres-how-much-it-would-cost-the-government-to-pay-everyone-who-takes-care-of-family-with-mental-illness-74760?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274+CID_3e0041eadb6d09286518efab7811c5a4&utm_source=campaign_monitor&utm_term=Heres%20how%20much%20it%20would%20cost%20the%20government%20to%20pay%20everyone%20who%20takes%20care%20of%20family%20with%20mental%20illness

Hi @Former-Member,

Super big thank you for checking in. I am feeling much better since NikNik came home to Forum Land. We haven't actually made any progress on unmuddling the muddle yet, but I feel a bazillion times better knowing that NikNik is working on it.I feel now that it WILL get unmuddled...it will just take a bit of time.

I just shared something super cool here. I meant to tag you but I forgot. Changing the world super brightens my day.

How are you and Mr Darcy going at the moment?

Re: Recognition for the work that carers do

Well done you @Phoenix_Rising ... changing the world .. one step at a time and time is often a key factor.

Going by time limits that HCC has on website I should hear what the next step will be in relation to my complaint or be advised if an extension is required by the 5th January.

Mr D is recovering quite well from his surgery, he is able to be doing a bit more around home (although being a house husband is not really a long held occupational ambition of his). Hoping he will get the all clear to drive when he has follow up appointment later this week, he won't feel quite so dependent.

I just keep doing what needs to be done.

Darcy

Psssst @Former-Member @CheerBear @Former-Member,

I am sneaking over here to tell you a secret. I have decided that it is ok to tell now because it was a few weeks ago. You know how I had my big adventure that I had worked towards for 2 years? The one that was much harder to navigate than it would have been if I hadn't been sitting on a pause button? Well...the adventure was that I played my violin at the Sydney Opera House.
