Recognition for the work that carers do

Recognition for the work that carers do

Hello people in Carers Forum Land. I've never ventured over here from the lived experience forum and I'm feeling all shy. However, this article landed in my inbox this morning and I thought it would be of interest over here. I don't actually have any family or friends myself, but I know that carers do an amazing job in supporting those that they love. If anyone here does happen to feel like adopting someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm open to it. I mean, what could be more fun than having someone (or another someone) with BPD in your life! Here's the link to the article: http://theconversation.com/heres-how-much-it-would-cost-the-government-to-pay-everyone-who-takes-care-of-family-with-mental-illness-74760?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274+CID_3e0041eadb6d09286518efab7811c5a4&utm_source=campaign_monitor&utm_term=Heres%20how%20much%20it%20would%20cost%20the%20government%20to%20pay%20everyone%20who%20takes%20care%20of%20family%20with%20mental%20illness

Re: Recognition for the work that carers do

Thanks for the check-in @Former-Member. Things are still extremely tricky around here and will be for quite a while. Forum Land is the only place where I feel safe and thus when it becomes unsafe it is a very very big problem. I know I need to just work super hard at staying still and trusting in the assurances I've been given that there are clever people who I genuinely trust working on unmuddling the muddle. I know you don't venture into LE town very often, but if you feel like picking up a broom, there is some cleaning up to do here: All storms pass.

Hi @Former-Member,

Thanks for checking in. I am still SUPER struggling. I recognise that nothing is going to shift until I have the opportunity to talk the muddle through, and I'm not sure when that is going to happen. So, I'm just paddling around amongst all the debris in the ocean at the moment. I super love that you dropped food over for the clean-up crew.

@Phoenix_Rising
Clean ups after storms are delicate operations and often require specialist clean up crews who know of the potential dangers that one can encounter. Tread carefully and slowly little turtle as you work your way around the debris.

That's very true @Former-Member. I am desperate for some specialist clean-up crew to appear. Until then, I'll just keep focusing on trying to stay afloat.

Hoping that you have in some small way started to sort through the feelings you have been experiencing.

Re: Recognition for the work that carers do

@Former-Member Yesterday I really was starting to feel better. But now it has all flared again. I feel utterly voiceless and powerless.
