Recognition for the work that carers do

Recognition for the work that carers do

Hello people in Carers Forum Land. I've never ventured over here from the lived experience forum and I'm feeling all shy. However, this article landed in my inbox this morning and I thought it would be of interest over here. I don't actually have any family or friends myself, but I know that carers do an amazing job in supporting those that they love. If anyone here does happen to feel like adopting someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm open to it. I mean, what could be more fun than having someone (or another someone) with BPD in your life! Here's the link to the article: http://theconversation.com/heres-how-much-it-would-cost-the-government-to-pay-everyone-who-takes-care-of-family-with-mental-illness-74760?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274+CID_3e0041eadb6d09286518efab7811c5a4&utm_source=campaign_monitor&utm_term=Heres%20how%20much%20it%20would%20cost%20the%20government%20to%20pay%20everyone%20who%20takes%20care%20of%20family%20with%20mental%20illness

Hey @Phoenix_Rising
Quick check in, only nipping on occasionally as away, the ocean not kind, threw up on overnight trip. Mr Darcy not having a good start to break but hoping things will pick up.

Hope things steady with you and the puddy tats.

Darcy

@Former-Member,

Sorry to hear you were sea sick. Was Mr Darcy sea sick too or was it something else that caused the rough start? I super hope you both have a wonderful time away. I am assuming you are on a cruise? That would be awesome. I would super love to go on a cruise but I think it is very expensive as a single person (and there is no way in hell I could share a cabin with a stranger!!!!). I look forward to hearing all about it when you get home. Maybe you will pass me in your travels...though the ocean is kind-of big.

Just crossing the Bass Strait on the Spirit on a slightly rough night @Phoenix_Rising, cheaper than flying and hiring a car. Cruising is not really my thing, am a land lubber through and through . I think there is a single loading if you want your own cabin on a cruise. Mr Darcy slept well and was not sea sick.

How are things with you? How is the violin going? Hope the animals are well. How is the garden going?

Looking at cloud formations as we are on the road, had to do a double take, reckon one looked like a flying turtle.

Back from time away, how are you going?

Hi @Former-Member,

I love that I am causing you to see flying turtles in the clouds.

I hope you and Mr Darcy had a nice time away.

CheerBear and I had a super giant adventure last night. We both went to our first ever yoga class. I was super scared but after some serious psyching up, it turned out to be really cool. We started a thread called The Great Yoga Adventure if you are interested. I super appreciated the encouragement of people here in Forum Land and it was so cool to be able to do something "together" with CheerBear even though we have never met, don't know each others real names and live on opposite sides of the country. Yay for the clever person who invented the internet!!!!

AKA the great yoghurt adventure? I have not suffered from any sporting injuries as yet @Phoenix_Rising and don't plan on taking anything up to put myself at risk. (Will need to do Mr Darcy's physio exercises as he will only do them if I encourage him and do them with him - he has started limping noticeably again.)

@Former-Member Giggle. I did have to clarify on the thread that it was not a toga adventure or a yoda adventure. I think yoga is pretty safe. I'd love for you to join our adventure.
