Recognition for the work that carers do

Recognition for the work that carers do

Hello people in Carers Forum Land. I've never ventured over here from the lived experience forum and I'm feeling all shy. However, this article landed in my inbox this morning and I thought it would be of interest over here. I don't actually have any family or friends myself, but I know that carers do an amazing job in supporting those that they love. If anyone here does happen to feel like adopting someone with Borderline Personality Disorder, I'm open to it. I mean, what could be more fun than having someone (or another someone) with BPD in your life! Here's the link to the article: http://theconversation.com/heres-how-much-it-would-cost-the-government-to-pay-everyone-who-takes-care-of-family-with-mental-illness-74760?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20March%2023%202017%20-%2070265274+CID_3e0041eadb6d09286518efab7811c5a4&utm_source=campaign_monitor&utm_term=Heres%20how%20much%20it%20would%20cost%20the%20government%20to%20pay%20everyone%20who%20takes%20care%20of%20family%20with%20mental%20illness

Hey @Phoenix_Rising
*big wave
I don't know if I ever asked if you have a fave chocolate, as there are so many to pick from I think it is quite appropriate to have a favorite for each occasion, a favorite by category or even a favorite per flavour.
In your case you might have a post violin lesson, post yoghurt or post breakfast fave. You might have a fave truffle, choccies bar, white, milk or dark choc.
Finally there are some inferior versions of varieties that are hardly worth a glance but other chocolateers have excelled at.

So, I ask, have you any favourite chocolates?

Hi @Former-Member, I SUPER love that picture!!!! I am going to steal it for our yoga thread.

My favourite chocolates are the Lindt chocolate balls. They are sooooooo good. I don't have them often because they are expensive so it is always a special treat when I buy some.

My favourite cadbury chocolate is Snack.

What about you, what is your favourite chocolate???

@Phoenix_Rising

Fave chocs - where to start?
The Rafaello coconut-almond balls rank really high and are probably no 1.
Others I would pick are
Lindt orange intense (the thin one)
In Cadbury favourites I would go for Turkish delight first, followed by flake.
In the larger bars I like the fake cherries in Cadbury black forest

I am not so fond of hazelnut or of the cheap chocs that come on the market at Christmas.

I have stopped buying confectionery in an endeavour to be a bit healthy.

Back to work tomorrow so won't be popping on forums as much as I have been lately.

Hope you have a good week.

Have a meeting tomorrow in relation to my concerns tomorrow. This time with area health manager and current pdoc (which concerns me just a little as I have been very careful to ensure therapeutic alliance is not affected - will be seeking assurances on this front).

I super hope the meeting goes well @Former-Member. It is impressive that you have got as far as scoring a meeting with the area health manager.

Tomorrow must be the day for important meetings; I am having my first session with therapist-take-eleven. I so very VERY badly hope we will be a good match.

Best advice I got given my little turtle was 'they all burp and they all fart' so not intimidated in any way by title - think it is a case of department reshuffle and the two I am seeing have drawn the short straw do not have high expectations.

Hope it goes OK for you ... looking forward to swapping notes.

@Former-Member Hee hee. I used to work in a role where I came face-to-face with a few well known media and sports celebrities. I remember my boss saying something very similar when people used to get excited about having a famous person around: they all eat and sh*t just the same as the rest of us.

Good luck tomorrow.

I hope that your appt went well. How are the puddy tats? Are you still playing the violin?

My meeting went OK, got a bit more leverage for what I consider to be my main focus, will be sending follow up email which I am sure will go down like a ton of bricks.
