Feeling not so great

Feeling not so great

Feeling lost and confused, just wanna feel alright I want things to be the way they used to be. I keep getting let down by ndis support workers aswell and it’s breaking me. I’ve been to ER twice this week and I was trying so hard not to go.

changes are just triggering all together. It’s just hard. But still going with my coping skills.

am safe

Re: Feeling not so great

It's great that your medical professionals are communicating.

It's so important that they do constantly and effectively review your circumstances.

@DownMoreThanUp I'm really pleased that you're seeing your daughter ( ex-foster son) 💙 💗

I hope that goes well for you both!

Looks like they don't quite know what to make of each other, @Taali. Did they work it out?

Re: Feeling not so great

What to do when left with feeling psychologist has placed your requests for answers and help in either the ‘too hard basket’ or the ‘very low priority basket’?

don’t feel I can trust her anymore based on things that have happened recently.

end of July I asked for outcome of each online assessment tool the psychologist had my do about 3 weeks prior. I also said I wanted to focus on things I had identified and advised in February. Psychologist response was that would happen next appointment. I’ve had 3 appointment with psychologist since then and, only after me verbally advocating for myself, was one thing that I had identified discussed to see if was still current etc. (since 2019 when car I was driving was clipped by a truck and spun multiple times across 3 lane highway I’m scared to be near trucks, busses etc).

psychologist said we would definitely continue chat about all the other items at next appointment.

next appointment was 2 days ago and psychologist steered conversations onto completely different topics. Wasn’t until yesterday morning when I woke in tears and feeling let down that I fully realised why I was struggling to respond to questions that psychologist had asked. It wasn’t until right at end of appointment that psychologist asked if there was anything I wanted to ask or say. I briefly mentioned example using ACT Matrix I had found myself and found useful. Her response was she would try to remember to email me some things about ACT that I might like to read. I’m still waiting on that email, semi not expecting to receive it

during my last appointment with psychiatrist, we briefly talked about some of the things I identified with psychologist. That day my psychiatrist sent me email with links to some things plus some information about second item.

I feel let down, that psychologist doesn’t care and that I can’t trust anything she says and emotionally hurting. Next appointment is booked for approx 5 weeks time. Have decided to go, not say anything about requests I verbally made in July until at end of appointment. I’m not expecting psychologist to voluntarily provide me with the things I’ve asked for and don’t feel I should have to serve as her memory service at start of each appointment

Re: Feeling not so great

Hi @Flutterbug9, I can understand why you’re feeling so let down and hurt. You’ve clearly put thought into identifying what you need support with, and it must be frustrating to have raised these things repeatedly and still feel they haven’t been addressed. It makes sense that this has affected your trust

You deserve to feel heard and to have your concerns taken seriously. Perhaps you could consider writing down the key things you want to discuss before your next appointment, or even sending them through beforehand, so there’s a clearer opportunity to address them. This is just an option and no need to do this if you don't want to. You shouldn’t have to carry all the responsibility for keeping things on track

I hope you’re able to find a way forward that leaves you feeling more supported and confident in your care 💛

@Flutterbug9 I'm sorry that you're feeling so let down sweet and i can understand how hurtful that would be. Sending you lots of love and hugs sweetheart ❤️.

Re: Feeling not so great

@Flutterbug9 Hearing you about feeling let down by psychologist. Yes it can highlight the lapse in competence, when another worker actually follows through. At least that is something. Perhaps it can be a way that you slowly learn to distinguish between those who are effective and those who are not.

Tbh, we have too many tips and toolkits on the internet, and it is the timely implementation and relevance to the particular person that matters. Not a new fancy peer reviewed style of therapy. Your description sounds as if she is not aware of how she is triggered and wanting to avoid topics that are important to you. The problem when being the client, is that we are open and hopeful and vulnerable and it is up to the therapist, whatever their modality.

Maybe look around for someone else. There is the concept of rupture and repair, but the therapist actually has to register that they caused a rupture, remember it, and honestly try and make amends. I was similar to you, patient, hopeful, eager to please them, allowing them to lead me.

Good luck with life and making a decision about the psychologist. They all get a lot of money. They should do their jobs, even if they struggle with countertransference.

Take care

Re: Feeling not so great

I had thought of typing up brief timeline plus how I’ve been left feeling @Nala2022

Ive decided not to do that and to give the psychologist one last opportunity to do what she she said would happen, ie provide me answers to the questionnaires plus start to look at some type of plan based on areas I identified.

if, as I’m suspecting will happen, psychologist talks about other topic/s, at end of the appointment I’m going to ask what happened to the commitment to provide me with the things I’ve asked for.

Re: Feeling not so great

Thanks @Appleblossom

I saw the red flags with the previous psychologist but was too scared to speak up.. Due to mix of words, tone and her telling me she is Clinical Psych, I found her very intimidating.

im realising now I saw red flags with the current psychologist prior to July this year. Think I saw them at the time and pushed them away.

With my psychiatrist I feel the total opposite. Last week I made big decision and sent email to her containing information about my past that I’ve never shared with anyone, not even on here. It’s due to my psychiatrist that I’ve got some written information about Journaling, one of the things I mentioned to the psychologist early this year.

not a memory servant to psychologist but psychologist employer ….. next step is to get the thought switch into my system
