Something’s not right

Riding a wave

Riding a wave

Hi all,

@CherryBomb, @Former-Member or any other @Former-Member floating around Forum Land, will you ride a wave with me? I thought I would be fine doing something...but it turns out that the something has made my big feelings BIG and now I'm in a pickle...and there's nothing worse than a pickled turtle! I'm going to go and snuggle in my bed so I probably won't actually respond to you, but it will still super help me to know that I am not utterly alone on the wave. I don't want to tag anyone else because I don't want anyone to feel they need to respond. Thank you in advance for riding with me.

Thank you @Catcakes @Former-Member @STORMGRL101. I was able to talk to someone and I feel much calmer now. "Sorry" is a super powerful word. Simply saying sorry instead of trying to justify, minimise or explain can help a LOT. The ocean is calmer now.

Re: Riding a wave

I'm sorry this is a delayed reaction to what I was tagged in earlier in the week @Phoenix_Rising & @Zoe7 ... take a couple of days off and next thing you know people are speculating your physiological make up.

I would like to confirm that I am a mix of nutella / hot air.... I need that hot air to float around here and nutella to survive

(apologies for the tangent that this late response may cause)

*floats away*

Re: Riding a wave

haha @NikNik a Nutella eating, hot air filled lightbulb flying around forumland - let's hope there are no sudden 'power outages' lol

Re: Riding a wave

ROFL @NikNik. I super hope you keep the balance of nutella and hot air just right so that you can float, but not float away. I decided you needed a chocolate rope to tether yourself to your nutella jar just in case.

Re: Riding a wave

I feel super alone and super sad. I hurt everybody who comes near me here in the real world - even if they only come near me via the telephone. I hurt them and then they walk out of my world...and I don't understand why. I don't know what it is I do that hurts people. I don't mean to hurt them - honest. I feel so sad and so alone. How can I ever feel ok about being me when the objective reality is that no one wants to be around me after they have spent a little bit of time with me. I traumatize people...but I don't know how or why.

I know a lot of people sometimes think it would be better for everyone around them if they died, but in truth, children and parents and partners and friends wouldn't be better off - we know that the suicide of a loved one is a catastrophic event that has life-long effects. But when the only people in your world are paid professionals, and you end up causing them so much distress their supervisor has to step in and stop you from engaging with them, then really, how can anyone say that it is "faulty thinking" that leads me to recognise the world would be better off without me??? I am a waste of resources. I burn mental health professionals out such that they then can't help others who are actually help-able.

I am eternally grateful for TTT, but realistically, trying to unmuddle my muddle at the rate of 50 minutes / week while my brain is simultaneously being fried by the giant wrongness of the wrong, is an impossible task. My muddle keeps growing at a rate faster than TTT and I can ever hope to unmuddle it. I am super hoping that the "sorry" of today marks a positive turning point, but the muddle is so gigantic now, it's going to take quite a bit more than that to unmuddle it. Today's "sorry" is what I needed about two months ago. The hole is so so SO much deeper now than it was then.

This is hard. It is so so so SO hard.

@CheerBear I get the feeling that today has been as tricky for you as it has been for me. Super big thank you for being around last night. I know that you see and hear and feel the big feelings around the wrongness of the wrong, and sometimes I get scared that on top of your own muddles, those feelings will overwhelm you. Super big thank you for sitting with me in my muddle. I have been stuck in my lizard brain all day. I think the "sorry" will help me to move out of it over the next day or so though. The "sorry" super helped.

Today has been hard, and tomorrow will be hard too, and the next day, and the one after that. But the "sorry" has given me the little glimmer of hope that I needed to keep on keeping on. Yay for tiny glimmers of hope - and yay for not living on Venus!

Re: Riding a wave

So many feels right now @Phoenix_Rising. I feel so sad that so many people have walked out in your world and that has left you with the feelings you have. I know that you don't mean to hurt people, I really truly do. I like you for being you.

I hear and feel and see the things you do in such a big way that it can scare me sometimes too but I choose to be here and I want to be here. I need to be careful that my lizard brain doesn't react and last night was a bit of a danger one for that, as was today, so I will work on that. We got through it though, as we do.

I hope you trust that not-friends don't disappear. They might need to go off hunting rainbows to heal hurty hearts sometimes, but they don't disappear. I can't and won't promise that I will always be here as who knows what can happen and I don't promise things if I can't keep them. I think you get that though. If I need to not be here for any longer than a little bit I will let you know (provided I can physically get to a phone or computer). That I will do. Otherwise you will find me here-but-not when I am not here, riding alongside you through the ups and downs, together-but-not.

I can so much understrand brain fry making it hard to unmuddle muddles. Titanic teaspoon situations are so hard (and I feel like I experience that to an extent too). Big sigh. We're amazingly talented at getting smashed by life, but I do feel like our getting up again game is stronger.

Sorry is a very powerful word when it is said in a way that is genuine. Sorry has left me with different feelings than not-sorry, but they have helped me move through things easier, as it seems it may for you. I am sorry that you didn't get a sorry sooner. I really really hope the glimmer of hope helps. Definitely yay for glimmers.

This is where I would usually insert hugs and hearts, but I won't 😉 I will say thank you for being my amazing not-friend. I super like you.

@Catcakes Here is a video that explains lizard brain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n09iwPMRYbI

The more technical name for this part of the brain is the diencephalon.

My homework for TTT is to work super hard at not getting stuck using my lizard brain in response to the organisation I'm struggling with, who TTT reckons are collectively stuck using their lizard brain. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm not doing so well with that homework task at the moment.
