Riding a wave

Riding a wave

Hi all,

@CherryBomb, @Former-Member or any other @Former-Member floating around Forum Land, will you ride a wave with me? I thought I would be fine doing something...but it turns out that the something has made my big feelings BIG and now I'm in a pickle...and there's nothing worse than a pickled turtle! I'm going to go and snuggle in my bed so I probably won't actually respond to you, but it will still super help me to know that I am not utterly alone on the wave. I don't want to tag anyone else because I don't want anyone to feel they need to respond. Thank you in advance for riding with me.

Re: Riding a wave

@Phoenix_Rising Found some friends of yours in calmer waters and have sent them your way in case you need some help being towed out of that stormy ocean you are in...

Re: Riding a wave

And so night has fallen and still the storm rages on and on. I am seeing A first thing in the morning and I anticipate that this will help. However, the bigger picture is that this entire storm has been because she thought it was a bright idea to send me that email on Friday. I feel really really unsafe with her...but I don't have the energy to keep therapist shopping to try for my eleventh therapist in 14 months and it seems better to have someone than to have no one. I feel no safer now than I did when I was with my abusive therapist of 16 years. Sure, A doesn't yell and swear at me or become physically aggressive during sessions...but she still seems to have a knack for causing immense pain through sheer incompetence. I definitely understand that it is incompetence rather than malice...but the intent doesn't really change the harm done does it. I feel utterly alone in my muddle. I know you guys are there...but it can never be truly the same as actually having someone HERE - someone who could help me find the right help, someone who could advocate for me when harm is done. Yep, right now I feel utterly utterly utterly alone.

@Former-Member are you around this evening? Can you please stay with me out here in this very dark and very tumultuous ocean? Thank you, and thank you also to all who I know will come by throughout the night. I super appreciate every one of you who chooses to ride the waves with me.

Re: Riding a wave

Hi @Phoenix_Rising, I know you don't like to problem solve when riding a wave but I can relate to what you are saying. I think although it's not fair and not your job but it might just be the case that you'll have to teach A about the effect these kinds of things have on you and others in the real world. I too was astounded at the email but I can see how she may have thought she was doing the right thing. I have been battling lots of missunderstandings and preconceptions about me now for years too. Just lately it seems like there's a change in the wind and I'm actually being listened to and treated as a person. My latest hospital visit was very very different and I was asked for my opinion and options for my care including what medication I thought would be best. This is a huge breakthrough and for the first time I didn't feel like a BPD diagnosis. But they have got to know me through many mistakes in the past. I think A needs to be taught by you. The saddest part is that you and I and others suffer in the process of them learning. And some days she'll just make human mistakes too. The only person who I've ever trusted is my therapist. She has been through so much with me. She has been at the coal face of lots of my not so nice behaviours yet the other day she made a mistake I never thought she would and suggested something she should have known about that was a trigger for a certain behaviour. It proved to me that we can never take for granted that anyone other than us will know what is best for us all the time. I hope this is not too preachy. I just wanted to say that although it's not fair and right you may need to teach A more of the boundaries and things that are destructive and the things that work too. If it's any consolation I don't know if my therapist can ever get me to the place I need to be either.....which is working (different barriers to you) but I know I need her for my survival too.

Thinking of you. Hoping this wave is ok and that after your appointment you'll find some calmer waters again. Take good care of you. You have so much to offer this world.

Re: Riding a wave

@Former-Member Well I guess she can learn through my suicide, cos I'm too damn tired to keep doing this! Really really really just need to ride this out right now. If I stay alive, I may change the world, but right now I just damn well need to stay alive.

I super know you care, but right now I just need to stay alive.

Really really really super badly struggling here. @Former-Member please ride with me tonight.

So sorry @Phoenix_Rising. I was unsure about posting and made the wrong choice. @Fancy_Pants is on now. Please take care.

Re: Riding a wave

I super know you care @Former-Member and I super value that care. I am prickly because EVERYTHING hurts. For more than 48 hours my whole body has felt like it is on fire and I have spent the vast majority of the weekend lying on the floor just breathing. I am not angry with you, I am simply hurting too much right now to think about anything except staying alive. The wave will pass and then I can think about changing the world. Right now I just need to know I am not riding this wave utterly alone. Thank you for riding with me @Former-Member. 😊

Re: Riding a wave

I'm just really sorry I did such a bad job of riding with you @Phoenix_Rising. I think I dunked you under a bit. I'm really sorry. Hoping you'll find calm waters soon. 💜🤗

edit. Just took out the sentence that I was justifying myself which wasn't cool.
