Riding a wave

Riding a wave

Hi all,

@CherryBomb, @Former-Member or any other @Former-Member floating around Forum Land, will you ride a wave with me? I thought I would be fine doing something...but it turns out that the something has made my big feelings BIG and now I'm in a pickle...and there's nothing worse than a pickled turtle! I'm going to go and snuggle in my bed so I probably won't actually respond to you, but it will still super help me to know that I am not utterly alone on the wave. I don't want to tag anyone else because I don't want anyone to feel they need to respond. Thank you in advance for riding with me.

Re: Riding a wave

It's a giant muddle. I so badly want to make Forum Land a safe place...and yet I know that this is making you guys feel unsafe. It's ok. We are super snuggled in the inner sanctum of the underwater cave with A BAZILLION SOFT TOYS - and a loster lobster!!! Big feelings are HARD, but we can do this - we have experience.

Re: Riding a wave

@Former-Member I replied to your email. At 6:30pm and haven't heard back yet. I have an intense urge to copy what I wrote in the email, here, but I know that would be inappropriate. I really really really need to speak with someone. That would super help me discharge the big feelings in a safe and healthy way. Please hear me.

Re: Riding a wave

@Phoenix_Rising I am going to ask you a favour - just for me. I know how hard the waiting game is but can you sit here with us a little longer and wait - I have a feeling that there is a lot happening again tonight. You have not been forgotten or left to wait - it is simply a matter of availability. You can see that HC is not available atm so that must mean that mods are trying to do several things at once - how about one of your stories while we play the waiting game? You choose!

Re: Riding a wave

@Phoenix_Rising, I want to clarify that you have nothing to do with the reason I am feeling unsafe in Forum Land. I just have really big concerns around how something that could so easily have been resolved/repaired/unmuddled could still be dragging on a week later. That does not make for safe feelings. But as I said last night, I never feel icky or unsafe around my favourite sea turtle. 🌷🐢

We are hearing all of your concerns and working on ways to manage these concerns.

What does that MEAN @Former-Member??? That is not what I heard in @Former-Member's posts. What I heard is "thank you for your feedback, we can't make any promises about any long-term changes."

And what did Suzanne mean when she said you don't use the HC to manage forum issues??? Forumites, moderators (and NikNik!!!!) routinely encourage forumites to contact the HC when someone is struggling in Forum Land.

The fact that Suzanne said Apart from being informed by the lived experience that exists across our organisation, there was no additional consultation in the extension of hours because it was simply that tells me that the issue was NOT considered within a trauma-informed framework (even if, as she said, the leadership team within the HC are trained in trauma informed practice). There is no "simply that" when it comes to working with complex trauma!!!!!!!!!! Nothing is simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is also alarming to me that the new HC staff had a training session in trauma informed practice as part of their initial training. So....what I'm hearing is that they weren't selected for the role based on their prior expertise in this area!!!

I feel angry, unheard, invalidated and unsupported.

@Zoe7 Zoeeeeee it isn't the waiting GAME, it's the waiting PLACE. {face palm}.

Ok...how about we listen to this story. I can recite the whole book you know - yay for quirky aspie brain.

@Former-Member let's sit together (I mean, not super together - you over there and me over here) with @Zoe7 and @CheerBear (who is here even when she isn't) and listen to the story so that Zoe7 can remember that it's the waiting PLACE.

Re: Riding a wave

@Phoenix_Rising I can totally hear your frustrations here little turtle but I am going to say to you that the issues you have with what Suzanne wrote needs to be taken up with her tomorrow. I don't believe the present moderators can or should try to explain the words written by someone else. I fully understand the extent of the muddle you will still find yourself in and I quite frankly have some similar questions as you to ask about that post - but I can't ask them tonight - I will ask them tomorrow.

How can we work together tonight help you reduce your muddle?
