Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

@Nala2022 Thank you. I would reach out to 000 and/or mental health triage in Victoria and have their contacts. If things get too much I would definately call 000.

It truly is hard and so many people don’t understand or due to the stigma they avoid talking. I’ve lost friends that I always supported through thick and thin. When I needed some help they just disappeared on me. I was always giving and was shocked at how my so called friends just backed away. It is incredibly isolating going through this alone.

I’m really appreciative that you are here. Being able to have connection and talk with someone who understands and shows empathy really helps. I’ve found services like Lifeline very hit and miss. I just contact them to talk but many volunteers are not great. The mods and peer support here have been much better.

I think one of the hardest things is that the panic is just constant. I don’t get a break at all. I know it’s all stemming from the complex PTSD and not having a little circle of people who can support me at home makes it hard. My brain just thinks of one disaster to another. Worries about the future. How long this will last. Mental health services are really poor here in Victoria. I’m on DSP so can’t afford private help. And the 10 Medicare visits to a psychologist with the gap fee are not enough for me.

@Shaz51 I really don’t know what I like anymore. I know I enjoy company not like going to a party just one on one is what I like best.

I used to enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, dancing, music, nature and animals. But since I’ve been unwell nothing brings me any joy. I need to find that joy again and find myself. Who I am and some purpose.

what about you?

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

Thank you for sharing all of that with me and I’m glad you would contact them. I can only imagine how overwhelming, even scary that may be though @Cuddlebear

I’m sorry you’ve been let down by people. It makes sense that feeling unsupported or let down by people in the past has made things feel even more isolating now. I hear how much you’ve tried to show up for others, and how painful it’s been when that hasn’t been returned when you needed it most.

Thank you for saying that you’re very kind. I know what it feels like to not have many people to confide in or for them to not understand on some level. I’m glad it’s been helpful 😊

I’m really sorry it’s been so constant and exhausting for you. Living with that level of panic and fear with no real break sounds incredibly draining, especially alongside complex PTSD and everything else you’re managing. I know it’s hard with expenses too, doesn’t make it any easier

I used to enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, dancing, music, nature and animals. -- I know what you mean and sending you lots of understanding hugs as I like those things too but have left them far behind @Cuddlebear

I try to walk around my yard each day to try and see something lovely like a flower bub or an insect

today is too wet for a walk

this is the photo from yesterday

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

@Nala2022 Yes I would definately contact them if I needed to.

I hear it a lot from people here how they too have been let down. I was shocked to be honest that they just withdrew and didn’t want to engage or help at all. I just felt used after years of bending over backwards for people I thought were like family. But when you get sick something I learned is that you find out who your real friends are. Now it’s hard for me to make friends and I worry about trusting people being so let down.

It is incredibly draining and because it’s so chronic things that worked in the past no longer work. I had a toolbox of things that would actually help. None do at this time. I’ve been trying very hard every single day. Still trying to use those things just no relief.

Human connection is so important. A real hug and someone being there. Getting access to quality mental health supports is also important but that is just not available unless you can pay.

You’ve definately been so helpful. I can’t express how much gratitude I have that you are here supporting a total stranger.

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

I really hear how painful and disheartening those experiences with friends have been for you. Trust can definitely feel harder now after going through that, especially when you’ve been someone who’s shown up for others for so long.

It also sounds incredibly exhausting to be trying your usual coping tools and not getting any relief from them right now. When things are this chronic and intense, even the strategies that used to help can start to feel like they’re not enough.

You’re right that human connection makes a huge difference, and I’m really glad you’ve been able to reach out and feel some support here. You don’t have to carry all of this on your own in this space.

I really appreciate you sharing what this is like for you, and I’m here with you in it @Cuddlebear

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

@Taali It is so very difficult. I promise if I need 000 I will call them.

At the moment the symptoms are not something 000 will do anything about as I’m not a danger to myself or others. They will see me in panic, anxious, depressed and having complex PTSD. They will say see your GP. I am safe. I want to get better.

Heart racing, shaking, dizzy and a real sense of dread. Feeling lonely and afraid and needing to talk. Those things they no longer consider an emergency if you like.

I do need strength and balance. My body is exhausted from feeling this way. While I can try to do that I need support from peers too.

I’m trying so hard.
