Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

Hi @Shaz51 @MissGremlin @tyme and all forumites here this Saturday. Happy Saturday everyone! Thanks for starting this up today @Shaz51 - very much appreciated!

I have had a mixed few weeks in my life but things are finally looking up and positive again. I’ve secured a new rental for my friend/housemate last week - actually got offered 2 which was great - with my housemate going with the first 1 as she saw it and wanted it when she inspected it on 29/5 which is a good thing. It’s within our price range and on a bus route to uni and we collect the keys on Wednesday so all things are good for us. It’s also a 3 bedroom place so we’ll have an assigned study space as the 3rd bedroom which I’m planning to use as well to maximum benefit. We’ve been able to get financial help with the bond and rent in advance from housing organisations as well with my housemate being linked into a housing service because of her mental health situation and possibly furniture as well through the same organisation. I’m purchasing an armchair as a gift to me when I move in as I’ve found a chair on sale that is cheaper than the op shops in our local area which I’ll get delivered soon after we move in.

Mentally, I’m feeling a lot better since I’ve secured a new property and my housemate/friend is no longer homeless. It’s been expensive living in a caravan park cabin but I haven’t been able to stay at my uni residence due to the stress causing me to become psychotic and unsafe. My local mental health service has been dealing with me since 27/5 and I’m linked in with them until the start of July with them agreeing with me to stay out of residence because of the psychosis and knowing that I’d land in hospital if I stayed in residence otherwise. I’ve also been doing lots of self care to help me with my mental health situation such as journaling and knitting which has been a great assistance to me with a charity getting at least 12 baby beanies sent to them as part of this stressful period.

As for uni, I’ve got 3 assessments to do this week thanks to extensions given by my 2 lecturers and after that, it’s uni holidays for me until mid July. Uni has been great with my situation and giving me help and support unlike the uni housing that my friend was evicted from because of requiring medical treatment several times which other residents didn’t like. The uni housing service chose to evict my housemate despite her having exams when they wanted her to move out and refused to deal with the housing services and mental health service who were helping her because they didn’t want to be accountable for their actions. My social work lecturer was offended by what the uni housing service did and told my friend to take up legal action against them which she is now looking into as she has been discriminated against and on many fronts so that’s not going to look good for uni housing. As it is, the residential wellbeing officer didn’t think I’d leave if my housemate was evicted but I will be as I’m not safe at my uni residence- isolated with no one to talk to and complaints happening about me which I have no control over and which no one believes my side of the story. The residential wellbeing officer at the uni housing service is a joke in her role as she’s not inclusive of all residents and doesn’t respect people’s boundaries when they don’t want to talk to her to the point I refuse to deal with her and will only speak to her manager at another campus.

Sorry for the rant! Time to go and relax before doing more of my sociology essay! Tomorrow is me watching West Coast Fever versus Melbourne Vixens in the netball at 2pm on streaming in the last round of the season before finals start the following week. I’m team Fever since Sunshine Coast Lightening is out of the finals so go the Green Army!

Take care!

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

I'm really sorry to hear things are feeling so overwhelming right now @Cuddlebear

It sounds exhausting to be dealing with relentless panic on top of anxiety, depression, and trauma, especially when it feels like nothing is helping.

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know how you're feeling. You don't have to carry it all on your own.

I just wanted to check in, are you safe at the moment?

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

@Nala2022 It’s so terribly hard. It truly is exhausting. My nervous system is a wreck. I’m both frozen and can’t do basic things at all. I am safe. I’m trying to tell myself through self talk that that nothing bad is happening thwt my body and mind are responding because they feel a threat but I’m home and safe.

I’m in fear from the anxiety I think. It’s all stemming from complex PTSD.

I just need caring souls to help me feel safe and not alone in all this. I don’t have family etc that can help.

I just wish so much that the VAD rhings from the past didn’t happen. I have chronic health conditions too, I’m deaf and legally blind and have a part footcamputation so I’m very isolated. Sadly I feel really unloved.

Footy is really stupid (My username is a clue why)

It is cold in Melbourne

I had my home medicine review with a pharmacist on Monday. I'm waiting for his report to get uploaded to myhealthrecord, but he is going to recommend de-prescribing a medication from 20+ years ago (There are probably better options in 2026)

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 13th June 2026

I’m really sorry you’re going through such a heavy wave of anxiety and fear @Cuddlebear

It makes sense that your nervous system feels overwhelmed when things are this intense, especially with complex PTSD and everything else you’re managing.

I’m really glad you were able to say you are safe right now and trying to talk yourself through all of this

It also sounds incredibly isolating carrying this on your own, and I hear how much you’re needing connection and support in this moment. I’m here with you in this space, and I’m glad you’ve reached out

If things start to feel harder again or you feel like your safety changes, please do reach out to your existing supports or crisis services
