Re: Saturday Soiree -- 6th June 2026

@GezzaP good morning and well done on 7.5 hours sleep. So glad your eye is doing better. I will go for a walk later myself. Have been just doing paperwork this morning after applying for online identity theft protection. Saw an online person talk about it and it made good sense. She also mentioned recommended getting a will, a living revocable trust, a financial power of attorney and an advanced directive with a durable power of attorney for health care. I dont know how different it is in Australia but am looking into it.

@SmilingGecko Not sure you can get protection against identity theft here. We have similar documents to the other stuff you mentioned. I have a will which includes some health care directives and enduring power of attorney. But I don’t have an Advanced Health Care Plan yet. Probably should get around to doing that, but know that is tricky when you have a MI.
I am pleased I slept ok last night even though the first 2 hours were in the arm

chair.

Sitting all relaxed with puss on my lap cosy warm. Today I managed to cook lunch. Had ham steak with boiled potato, baby carrots and peas. Followed by yogurt. Had a coffee afterwards. Did dishes.

@TAB i heard this morning that Port was about 20 points up in third quarter but Weagles came back but couldn’t quite get in front. Don’t remember how much Port won by but not much.

I’m strictly forbidden from rubbing eye have been tempted a couple of times. Had to restrain myself. Putting 2 drops in 4 times a day for first week then 2 times until bottles run out.

Hi @SmilingGecko @creative_writer @Taali @Meowmy @ENKELI @Dimity @Shaz51 anyone else I’ve forgotten sorry.

@GezzaP @SmilingGecko re legal docs and mi - my psychiatrist attested to my competence for will and powers of attorney, and my gp gave me a cognitive test re advance care directives. In Vic there's 2 of the latter, one medical and one a statement of preferences re mh treatment if involuntarily hospitalised.

@GezzaP I have a will regarding my disability trust but no will regarding my possessions. My brother is not included in my will. He wont get a cent from me. Upon my demise it goes to charity. I set it up like that when I established my trust. I did bail him out of bankruptcy but learnt a valuable lesson from that experience with him. Never again. I was told he did not care about me when arranging the transfer of funds to him but I naively went ahead anyway. Wasnt ready to be kicked in the face afterwards.

@Dimity with the advance care directive I was thinking how they would handle involuntary admission and psychiatric treatments. I did not know there were separate advance directives for general hospitalisation and psychiatric hospitalisation.

Re: Saturday Soiree -- 6th June 2026

Yes @SmilingGecko . I think the psych one is called Advance Statement of Preferences. It's not legally binding on the treating team but can help inform them.

They are not legally binding

I've read that private institutions are more likely to abide by them

But of course private don't do involuntary
