Good on you for doing a workout. Yes it’s

hard to go for a walk when it’s rainy @creative_writer .

Think I know what the female test is and I’m sorry you couldn’t do it. I hope you can overcome this but understand if you can’t.

I have a female GP and a female psychiatrist. The psychologist I tried was male. I liked him but couldn’t afford anymore appts. So expensive! My mental health care plan ran out but even with one psychologist is just too expensive. He wasn’t able to help me with what I wanted help with either so that was pretty useless.

@GezzaP what did you get up to this evening?

It was an infection test because I’ve been having symptoms. I’m hoping it settles soon. I have a female psychologist but male psychiatrist. Psychologists can be expensive, especially if you’re not finding much relief. I hope you are and find something that works for you. Do you see your psychiatrist often?

Morning @creative_writer . Last night I watched the news and a bit more tv. Went to bed relatively early. Woke up early but slept about 7 hours so ok. Need cereal so should walk up shop, but can’t get motivated just yet.

Hope you don’t have an infection they are so unpleasant. Hope you can do the test. Have a good day.

@GezzaP what does your breakfast usually look like? 7 hours is decent, I got around 9 hours again. It’s been really had to get out of bed lately, I have to keep pushing myself up.

I don’t think I could do the test. I’m currently getting somatic flashbacks, it isn’t the ideal time to self swab. My GP said I could delay it for now. My ptsd symptoms have recently flared up and the last thing I need to do is make them worse

Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat-- 28th may 2026

@creative_writer I usually have high fibre muesli for breakfast because my anxiety often makes me constipated. I inherited that from my father who had GAD and depression. I inherited bipolar from my mother. What a combination hey. My sister told me I was getting more like dad as I aged which she intended as an insult. She thinks mental illness is a weakness and attention seeking. Insensitive b… .

I’m so sorry you could not do the swab. I can’t begin to imagine what that is like. Maybe a GP could give you a short course of antibiotics? Or you could try yoghurt. Depends what the infection is though so really you need to do the test I’m afraid. Maybe ask a chemist I believe they can now make recommendations on UTIs.

@GezzaP anxiety does affect the digestive system. They say the gut is the second brain. Anxiety + bipolar mix would be overwhelming. I have a lot of anxiety too, I’ve had panic attacks.

I was told it is more likely a yeast infection based on symptoms. If it is yeast, antibiotics will probably make it worse. I don’t think I have a UTI. My GP just said to park the test for now because I was really distressed

Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat-- 28th may 2026

I get panic attacks too @creative_writer . A bit concerned about how I’ll go with eye surgery Thursday. Used to needles for teeth, flu and blood tests, but not in or near eye. Hoping they will sedate me and use drops to numb my eye first.

Well if it’s a yeast infection there are creams for that. Those infections are very unpleasant. I’d be doing the test but understand if you can’t.

Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat-- 28th may 2026

@GezzaP I hope the eye surgery goes okay. I would imagine a major eye surgery would be anxiety provoking. I was anxious when I had a minor tinny cyst taken out of my lower lid.

I know there are creams which the GP said I could use. It’s still hard to do test because I’m still having a somatic flashback as we speak. I hope the GP didn’t think I was acting weird during my last appointment when I said I couldn’t do the test. He knows I have ptsd, but he doesn’t know what happened to me. I never found it medically relevant to tell him. SA is a very sensitive issue that I can’t talk to many people about

Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat-- 28th may 2026

I can imagine how hard it would be to talk about SA @creative_writer .
The cataract surgery takes about 15-20 minutes. It is the injection in or near the eye that has me anxious, not the actual surgery. I told the surgeon I had bipolar and suffer from anxiety. He said it would not be a problem. I’m hoping they sedate me first.

Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat-- 28th may 2026

@GezzaP it is hard to talk about. He knows what he needs to know, he probably does realise that the appointment was trigger for ptsd.

I am assuming they would give you something if it’s a major eye surgery
