Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Hi there people thx for having me. 1st post so l this is an ok place for depression as l couldn't find a depression section.

lt seems to me crazy especially at this stage but l'm just so damn stuck about my situation and just can not seem to be able to come up with a decision on what to do with it.

l didn't do well getting rid of my house but l did still also have a block of land in a small town. My ex and l bought it yrs back it was just suppose to be an investment but now because of the way things went with my house, it's looking like the best solution from here would be to just build something on the block. There's no debt on the block at all now and l do have small savings left that l could build a simple house with so financially it'd be ideal as l'd have no debt or mortgage.

Problem is a few things.

1stly, although l moved to regional area awhile back now, l grew up in the city but the town here at the block is tiny, no shops just a pub. Nearest decent town is 45k away.

The block does have a small cabin on it and l;ve been staying 6mths now supposedly figuring out whether l wanna build on it of not.

lt is a pretty block and spot and l'd have no debt if l just stayed here, where as not only don't l feel up to moving any more but l can't afford to now or to take on a new mortgage either after the house loss but somewhere better would be much much dearer and there'd be no way without one.

Trouble is, the town depresses the hell out of me especially at night every night l just sink again even if the day hasn't been too bad, sometimes even quite nice. Night comes round and down l go.

lt's just so damn small and away and at night there's just nothing except house lights on, that's it.

l mean if l had a choice l wouldn't choice to settle here never bought it back when for that at all, it's just the best solution though all round for sure. All round except that l just get so damn depressed out here.

So 6mths and l'm still absolutely nowhere about building something so l'm still just in the little cabin. Trouble with just doing it is, that if this went on and l just hated it here, l might not even be able to sell it and get my money back anyway and it still leaves the same problems above, with going somewhere better anyway.

lt's mad but l don't think l've ever been so stuck in my life.

Best to all.

mr

@TAB @Appleblossom

Gday fellas, l'm back in haha, the rascals locked me out this morng l thought here we bloody go again, it worked tonight though.

But AB, man those little yamies, nasty little rascals those hey, too much speed for a tiny little rat like that l always thought. l had the old Honda 3504, it was like a limo on 2 wheels and had the most insane note l'd get these blokes at lights on big 1000s and stuff asking me how the hell l got that note, twas a beautiful thing. ldk though, it just came with these pipes on it. Later l had a Yam 750 triple, nice bike that one, cruised beautifully. But man l take my hat off to you pillion on trips like that, crikey l could not sit on the back with another rider, just hated the feeling.

Had to ask though, so did your brother remember you in his will ? And l doubt you'd even be that interested anyway is my guess but just wondering.

Gees Tab. Was trying to find out where l am today in the thread and re'read your spending post for work. Forgot to mention but yeah you'd be feeling all that come out in dribs and drabs as you go wouldn't you , quite a bit really over time considering from memory it's been awhile and things were tight.

l've felt all messed up today. Was going up to Bunnings for building stuff. Well l did go but was just too tired from Melb trip Mon, got some nice lunch and headed home, ahhhh. That's better.

Bloody car shopping atm , dunno if anyone's done that last few yrs but tell you what, cars of the last decade and a bit are a nightmare- so many things can go wrong and cost you a fortune so l'm finding out so you gotta be bloody careful and research most of them now l'm finding out.

Was reading aabout it and they reckon the engines are full of little little bits inside, and plastic crap that snaps or wears really fast, alloys over heating very expensive gaskets and seals that go pop all kinds of crap it's ridiculous. Timing chains and belts seem like the biggest most common thing with just about all of them these days and cost a fortune to fix.

Where's my bloody pushy.

Re: Depressed with my situation, later 50s

yes, I had a VT commodore ok 1998 before 2005 VZ

look similar , engine main dif, US vs German in later one, 4 x as many parts in engine, design weaknesses etc. but still change oil and half recommended intervals and prob get 400,000 ks these days. getting harder to try and find something w reasonable k'sat that age. country is the go esp in SA, there's some immaculate ones around Guess yr a ute person.

Yeah tbh, my yam triple was the only one l ever saw of knew of and a lot of people didn't know what it was. Was a great motor though, cruised so nice.

Re: Depressed with my situation, later 50s

@TAB . Ah mate gees l need cloths bad atm too. l have plenty but nothings that comfortable any more. l find it really hard for clothes since l left Melb. Nah not really a ute man though l do have a Ranger but that was for work back when and later my caravanning, don't need it now though any more. Was thinking about another Jag or some other nice cruiser but Jags are v v dicey these days and really aren't made for towing so maybe a wagon. l like the Holden wagons but they're pretty tricky to they reckon.

Know what you mean about money, l'm still jumpy in my building, the old acc's gone down a lot, and more yet, not wrapped about that but kinda had to take the plunge.

Yeah don't think the Yam triple was a very popular bike but everyone really liked mine but nope no racing bike at a 750 though she had plenty of grunt for me.
