Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Hi there people thx for having me. 1st post so l this is an ok place for depression as l couldn't find a depression section.

lt seems to me crazy especially at this stage but l'm just so damn stuck about my situation and just can not seem to be able to come up with a decision on what to do with it.

l didn't do well getting rid of my house but l did still also have a block of land in a small town. My ex and l bought it yrs back it was just suppose to be an investment but now because of the way things went with my house, it's looking like the best solution from here would be to just build something on the block. There's no debt on the block at all now and l do have small savings left that l could build a simple house with so financially it'd be ideal as l'd have no debt or mortgage.

Problem is a few things.

1stly, although l moved to regional area awhile back now, l grew up in the city but the town here at the block is tiny, no shops just a pub. Nearest decent town is 45k away.

The block does have a small cabin on it and l;ve been staying 6mths now supposedly figuring out whether l wanna build on it of not.

lt is a pretty block and spot and l'd have no debt if l just stayed here, where as not only don't l feel up to moving any more but l can't afford to now or to take on a new mortgage either after the house loss but somewhere better would be much much dearer and there'd be no way without one.

Trouble is, the town depresses the hell out of me especially at night every night l just sink again even if the day hasn't been too bad, sometimes even quite nice. Night comes round and down l go.

lt's just so damn small and away and at night there's just nothing except house lights on, that's it.

l mean if l had a choice l wouldn't choice to settle here never bought it back when for that at all, it's just the best solution though all round for sure. All round except that l just get so damn depressed out here.

So 6mths and l'm still absolutely nowhere about building something so l'm still just in the little cabin. Trouble with just doing it is, that if this went on and l just hated it here, l might not even be able to sell it and get my money back anyway and it still leaves the same problems above, with going somewhere better anyway.

lt's mad but l don't think l've ever been so stuck in my life.

Best to all.

mr

@TAB got my batch of new cds, heading off upto the main town with some music and the bloody car cd player won't work now- givme strength 🤣 !!!!!

Been running fautless 5yrs, get my new cd's, all set, take off, won't work, sledge hammer please, think it needs cleaning inside.

Anywayyyy, atm the sale of this place is still standing but bloody hell, so been browsing property and crikey. The housing market in this country is so insane it's criminal, bloody gov's should be sacked on the spot and locked up for what they're doing to this country.

Anyway, hope everyone's doin ok

@TAB @Shaz51 @tyme @liminalzest @Glisten and all.

Well, the bloody sale of the place has fallen through and it's back to square one. l've had a feeling from day one it would, been nearly 4wks, only just found out today.

Been away last nearly 2wks, checking out a couple of areas l would've liked and at what's available out there in something new l could still manage when and if the sale settled in 3wks time. All been a mind bending emotional coaster let me tell ya.

God almighty, after 5mths of serious low staying there and trying to figure out wth l should do, finally make the decision organize agents and all this bs which l really wasn't up to, low and behold it supposedly sold, now back to this. All l can say is a lotta stuff we're probably not allowed to say here, damn it.

Oh no @mrmista ! I guess the original was "too good to be true"?

How stressful!

I'm in the process of getting a pre-approval for a house. That's stressful enough!

I hope something even better happens for your place.

@tyme

Thanks for that ty. But yeah, your not kidding, this last 6mths has been such a mind fk, but l really didn't need this last few wks now and all the thoughts and work and what ifs on top of it.

But hey, that is really nice to hear for you though but l do know how stressful that all is too and then all the followings too. Gritting your teeth first of all l suppose hey , waiting on the reply. Very best of luck with it all.

Just know you are not alone in this. We're here to support one another as you go through this emotional roller coaster @mrmista Fingers crossed you'll have a buyer soon.

Buying/selling is such a headache... moving is a headache. I don't know how people do it. It's so stressful.

Let's just say, as hard as it is, whatever happens, there's a reason - that's what usually comforts me. @mrmista

@mrmista That was four weeks ago?! You’ve been on the trott for two weeks looking for a new place to live?

Maybe it was a taste test? Life handed you a rehearsal.

Would you do anything differently?
